Yang Potian led the Breaking Clan while it remained subordinate to the Clear Sky Sect. His clan’s Soul Breaking Spear produced a self-generated soul ring upon reaching the Soul Sage stage, granting formidable combat power but creating a defect that prevented its wielders from breaking through Rank 89; the clan had not produced a Titled Douluo for over a thousand years. 171 172

At the Hundred Battles Arena, he witnessed Tian Hao impersonate a descendant of a Breaking Clan branch through the alias “Yang Guo” and the purported Breaking Army Overlord Spear.
