Background

Whitebeard was formerly a major member of the Rocks Pirates alongside figures including Golden Lion Shiki, Charlotte Linlin, and Kaido. In that era, Kaido was only an apprentice while Whitebeard was already one of the crew’s great cadres. 24 373

Rather than seeking world domination, Whitebeard’s lifelong dream was to have a family. He built the Whitebeard Pirates around that ideal, treating his crewmates as sons and serving as the family’s patriarch aboard the Moby Dick.
