Background / History

Kaido joined the Rocks Pirates as a 15-year-old apprentice in 1480. After the God Valley Incident, he received the Mythical Zoan Azure Dragon Fruit from a “pink-haired big sister,” beginning his rise into a Pirate Emperor. 285 373

He eventually established the Beasts Pirates in Wano Country and used Kurozumi Orochi as the country’s nominal ruler. During his rule, Kaido eliminated Wano’s five other great families, leaving the Kurozumi family as the sole surviving former ruling house. 372

His long-term ambition was to build a pirate crew composed entirely of Zoan Devil Fruit users. Hanafuda collected Ancient Zoans for this purpose, while Donquixote Doflamingo later agreed to supply Zoan Fruits after delivering two stolen Dragon Dragon Fruits to Wano.
