Personality

Mahito treats danger and combat as entertainment. He calls Sukuna’s Finger a “toy,” taunts the recovery team, and becomes excited when their strength appears suitable for helping him grow. Even while being surrounded, he continues explaining his theory of the soul rather than taking his opponents seriously 99.

His confidence rests on his belief that preserving his soul makes him nearly impossible to kill. Red Spider and Akamaru expose the weakness in that assumption by repeatedly forcing him to regenerate and exhausting his cursed energy. His attacks become increasingly frenzied as the fight turns against him, but afterward he grins and describes the experience as fun 99 100.

Mahito actively seeks opportunities to improve. Following his defeat, he considers finding more Sukuna’s Fingers to attract opponents of similar strength 100.

Idle Transfiguration

Mahito’s cursed technique changes the body by touching and altering the soul. He explains that the soul precedes the body and determines its shape 99.

History

Testing the Finger Recovery Team

After incarnating in Kanon’s body, Kenjaku approached the special grade cursed spirits and explained Mitsuki’s plans. They initially doubted his claims and decided to exploit Mitsuki’s search for Sukuna’s Fingers to test his forces. Mahito volunteered because he wanted combat experience and his unusual technique made him difficult to kill 100.

Mahito waited in a city sewer, lounging in a hammock with a finger when Red Spider and Akamaru arrived. He refused to surrender it, but Red Spider snatched it with silk and swallowed it. Mahito blocked their exit and attacked, turning the retrieval into a prolonged battle 98 99.

The pair countered his transformations through coordinated web restraints and sword attacks. Akamaru repeatedly located the portion containing Mahito’s soul and cut away the rest, eventually leaving only his left eye. Red Spider sealed the eye in a cocoon and threw it into an underground waterway. Mahito later broke free, but the recovery team had already escaped 99 100.

Cooperation with Kenjaku

Mahito returned to the cursed spirits’ beach gathering and reported the battle. Kenjaku identified his opponents as Mitsuki’s puppets and warned that even their combined forces would die if they challenged Mitsuki directly. Mahito agreed to cooperate with Kenjaku’s plan 100.

Although Mahito was not the strongest spirit present, Jogo considered him the one with the greatest potential and nominated him as their leader 100.

Impact on Mitsuki’s Research

Red Spider and Akamaru brought Mitsuki both the recovered finger and a sample of Mahito’s blood. Mitsuki valued Idle Transfiguration as a means of extending his research into the human body and integrating soul manipulation with Blood Manipulation 100.

Mitsuki subsequently used the technique to restore Todo Aoi’s arm and Yoshiki’s missing limbs and sensation. Integrating it with his earlier research also enabled him to bestow cursed techniques on others. Later, he incorporated Idle Transfiguration into the Spirit-Slaying Sword, allowing the weapon to attack souls directly 102 103 116.

• Kenjaku — Ally and planner. Mahito volunteers to test Mitsuki’s forces, reports his defeat, and agrees to cooperate with Kenjaku’s scheme 100.
• Jogo — Fellow special grade cursed spirit. Nominates Mahito as leader because of his exceptional potential, despite Mahito not yet being the strongest 100.
