Background
Shiina Riki joins the band because she wants to support Takamatsu Akari's wish to perform. When she first meets Riki, he helps her with a music score and responds to her anxious comparison with Toyokawa Sakiko by rejecting the need to rank their talents. Although she initially suspects that he is helping MyGO because of Sakiko, his guidance improves her mood and strengthens her resolve to continue with the band 15.
At Hanasakigawa's school festival, Rikki performs as a drummer alongside Riki. She struggles with casual social interaction and worries that her blunt way of speaking makes others uncomfortable, but Riki's acceptance makes her feel able to speak honestly around him 30 31.
Riki's unexplained disappearance deeply affects her and the band. When she is transported to his world, she learns that MyGO exists there as an anime and begins to understand the circumstances behind his absences, though she remains hurt that he left without explanation. She also worries that the band has stopped practicing during his absence 112 113.
Appearance
Rikki is a fair-skinned girl with long, silky black hair, slanted eyes, and a distinctive beauty mark near the corner of one eye. Her restrained, elegant appearance contrasts with her forceful demeanor and sharp speech 15 104 113.
- Often dresses simply but fashionably, including a navy-blue summer dress and a small waist bag while visiting Riki's world 113.
- Wore a pale-purple dress and light makeup for her amusement-park outing with Riki 149.
- Wore a blue yukata patterned with pale-purple wisteria for a festival date 334.
- Is physically fit from regular exercise and has practiced taekwondo since middle school 335.
Personality
Rikki is direct, impatient, and easily frustrated by evasiveness. Her blunt remarks often affect other band members, yet she is conscious of this flaw and worries that her words may hurt the people she cares about. Around Riki, she feels unusually comfortable speaking freely because he does not treat her harshly for her personality 29 90.
She is fiercely protective of Akari and carries lasting resentment toward Sakiko and Mutsuki over the events that nearly made Akari leave the band. Rikki will confront others when she believes they have harmed Akari, even when Riki has to physically stop her from escalating the situation 104 154.
Rikki also has a deep insecurity about being compared with Sakiko and her older sister. She sees Sakiko as more talented and fears that she lacks Sakiko's beauty, Sose's gentleness, or Mutsuki's quiet charm. Riki's encouragement gradually helps her become more confident in both her music and herself 15 140 157.
Her affection is often expressed through tsundere behavior: she denies being worried, becomes jealous of Riki's other relationships, and reacts sharply when embarrassed. Despite this, she is openly possessive once she accepts her feelings 103 140 157.
