Background / History
Early musical experience
Rikki began learning instruments as a child and initially considered herself talented. Her older sister’s first-place finish in a regional brass-band competition undermined that confidence. Meeting Sakiko, and later Riki, deepened her habit of comparing herself unfavorably with more accomplished musicians 120.
A former member of Crychic, she later plays drums for Mygo and works at Ring. Early in her acquaintance with Riki, she treats him brusquely and regards him mainly as the band’s music director rather than a close friend 7 30 192.
Mygo’s collapse and dimensional travel
Rikki’s appreciation of Riki grows as he helps preserve the band. She thanks him for preventing Sose’s departure, explaining that Akari would probably have abandoned forming a band if Sose had quit 61.
When Riki disappears, Mygo’s live performance fails and its members gradually leave. Rikki tries unsuccessfully to hold the group together and becomes angry and distrustful of him. Her room then connects directly to his house, bringing her into his world and allowing her to confront him about his absence 112.
While there, she studies Chinese and composes music in secret. Watching Riki perform at the Golden Hall intensifies her feelings of inadequacy, but his praise for her own song makes her visibly happy. She also watches the anime depicting her world and realizes that the band’s problems are more complicated than she had understood 114 118 120.
At a music competition, Rikki overcomes stage fright with Riki’s support. After a hostile backstage exchange with another contestant, he defends her and gives her a Music Star to commemorate their shared achievement. They subsequently agree to find Sakiko and Sose and rebuild the band 121 122.
Confidence and romantic confession
During a seaside trip, Riki encourages Rikki to perform her own song. Her confidence improves, and Mygo gives a successful live performance after returning. She becomes less openly hostile toward him, brings him coffee with a sweet note, and begins expressing her growing attraction 139 140.
Rikki nevertheless rejects Riki’s proposal to pursue several girls at once. She agrees to an Okinawa training camp for the sake of repairing Crychic’s relationships, not as approval of his romantic plans 154.
In a private conversation in the woods, she admits her insecurities, says she wants Riki exclusively, and kisses him. They return to the beach holding hands. Her relationship with Sakiko reaches a less confrontational balance, although both remain rivals for his affection 157.
Rikki and Riki later win a beach-volleyball exhibition match together, with her scoring the decisive point. Afterward, she carefully treats his injured hand and asks whether his dimensional travel might take him away again 158 159.
Negotiating a shared relationship
Rikki’s opposition to Riki’s harem remains explicit even after their relationship develops. At a gathering, she kisses him in front of the others and declares that she will not accept his plan, making an exception only for Akari 203 204.
Her stance gradually becomes more flexible. She defends Riki when Rokko criticizes him, agrees to consider the shared relationship, and decides to work toward reconciliation with Sakiko. Later, the prospect of Mygo remaining together within that relationship unexpectedly gives her a sense of security 240 253.
She continues writing songs and practicing independently. Around Mygo’s six-month anniversary, Ring’s staff report that she has been using the practice room alone. Mygo later rehearses another new song of hers, improving it with Riki’s suggestions 287 303.
Jealousy does not disappear: her older sister’s interest in Riki makes her protective, and his unexplained whereabouts provoke increasingly angry messages. Honest reassurance can soften her reaction, after which she turns to worrying about his health and workload 297 303 314.
Rikki’s route
The finale includes a separately labeled Rikki’s Route. In its closing chapters, she listens closely to Riki’s discussion of music, attends a festival with him, and stands between him and Sakiko when Sakiko approaches. The route ends with Rikki expressing her wish to be worthy of him and cheerfully suggesting that they go home 333 334 335 337.

Her assertiveness conceals persistent self-doubt. She measures herself against her sister, Sakiko, and Riki, and sometimes describes herself as a burden despite her own progress. She is reluctant to share personal difficulties because she does not want them to affect her bandmates 120 121 297.
Rikki often denies affection immediately after revealing it. She insists that praise has not made her happy, retracts an admission that she relied on Riki, and disguises concern for his health as concern on Akari’s behalf. Riki repeatedly describes this behavior as tsundere 118 122 303.
Her anger does not prevent practical kindness. Although she still resents Sakiko, she cleans up broken glass to protect Sakiko’s piano-playing fingers and acknowledges that she might not have handled Sakiko’s circumstances any better herself 192.
