Background / History

Akari was formerly a member of CRYCHIC with Toyokawa Sakiko, Nagasaki Sose, and Shiina Riki. After Sakiko withdrew from her, Akari was left hurt and confused, but continued hoping to understand Sakiko's reasons rather than simply resent her. 1 2 4

Early in the story, Akari struggles to understand human emotions and wonders whether she can become “more human.” Her meeting with Shiina Riki gives her a person she feels safe speaking honestly with; despite Sose warning her that he caused Sakiko's departure, Akari remains uncertain because of his kindness toward her. 3 4
