Background / History

Tang San was reincarnated into the body of Tang Hao and Ah Yin’s deceased child through the Asura God’s intervention. The Asura God arranged Tang Hao as his protector and intended Tang San to inherit the Asura divine position, while treating Bibi Dong and Qian Renxue as obstacles on his path. Tang San himself was initially unaware of this design. 180

Before reincarnation, Tang San belonged to the Tang Sect as an outer disciple. He retained its martial arts and hidden-weapon techniques in his new life. During his time at Shrek Academy, he became the core of the Shrek Seven Devils, rallying the team before its match against the Imperial Fighting Team. 19

His conflict with Xue Ke began at the Soto Great Soul Arena. When Xiao Wu was injured, Tang San attacked Xue Ke with the Eight Spider Lances and the Dragon Whisker Needle, but Xue Ke defeated him severely and tore one of his External Soul Bone lances from his back. 20 21 He later lost another spar against Xue Ke despite reaching level 36, which caused him to question the worth of his Blue Silver Grass and consider cultivating the Clear Sky Hammer. 46 47

After learning of the Sunflower Scripture, Tang San conspired with Yu Xiaogang to steal it from Xue Ke’s room. He copied the entire manual and gave the transcription to his teacher, but stopped cultivating it after suffering physical and psychological changes; the technique had already overdrafted part of his talent. 25 26 35 41 His relationship with Yu Xiaogang later collapsed when Tang San blamed him for the theft and the resulting consequences, formally severing their master-disciple ties. 159 164

Following the destruction of the Strength Clan and learning of the Martial Soul Hall’s connection to Ah Yin’s death, Tang San swore revenge against the organization. He sought the Clear Sky Sect’s protection, but its elders and disciples resented him because of Tang Hao’s past. Tang San eventually fled the sect using the Asura God Seal after Bai He exposed his hostile intentions toward its leadership. 93 96 175 179

Tang San entered the Blue Silver Forest seeking to awaken his heritage, only to be rejected by the Blue Silver King. He learned that Ah Yin was not dead, then fled when Xue Ke and Ye Lingling arrived. 181 He later gained his fifth Soul Ring and entered the City of Slaughter under the disguise “Tang Yin,” where he tried to conceal himself from Xue Ke and Hu Liena. 189

Xue Ke manipulated Tang San through illusions and repeated temptation in the City of Slaughter. His self-control and physical condition deteriorated despite his winning streak in the Hell Slaughter Arena, and he nearly died in a match against a Soul Emperor. 190 191

Austin Griffin, the God of Heavenly Punishment, later gave Tang San a new purpose: help him absorb Xue Ke’s power. Austin altered Tang San’s appearance, changed his Martial Soul into the Judgment Sword of Destruction, and empowered him for this mission. 211 Under the identity Lu Muke, Tang San massacred the Clear Sky Sect in revenge, then revealed himself to Xue Ke and confessed his love for her. 243 255

Tang San ultimately accepted Xue Ke’s orders over his former desire for revenge. She sent him to establish influence in the Star Luo Empire and later tasked him with infiltrating and destroying the City of Slaughter. 266 282

Appearance

Tang San is introduced as a black-haired youth. His original appearance is described as ordinary compared with the handsome Lu Muke identity he later adopts. 91 243

  • Possesses bright-purple Eight Spider Lances extending from his back. 20 21
  • His hands become crystalline and jade-like when using Mysterious Jade Hand. 21
  • His eyes emit purple light when activating Purple Demon Pupils. 21
  • Austin Griffin later changes his face to match Austin’s appearance and replaces his Martial Soul’s visible form with a purple-gold sword. 211

Personality

Tang San is proud of his Tang Sect heritage and initially presents himself as Shrek’s dependable core, encouraging his teammates when they lose confidence. 19 He is also calculating: he maintains his relationship with Yu Xiaogang after learning of the latter’s misconduct because he still wants the Twin Martial Souls cultivation method. 87

His ambition is frequently paired with resentment and a willingness to use covert methods. He steals the Sunflower Scripture after being denied it, seeks revenge against the Clear Sky Sect, and eventually destroys it after growing more ruthless under the Purple Pearl’s destructive influence. 26 179 243

Defeat deeply affects his self-image. Losses to Xue Ke and Bai Chenxiang lead him to doubt himself and blame the limitations of Blue Silver Grass, intensifying his desire to cultivate the Clear Sky Hammer. 47 91 96

Tang San’s attachments can become extreme. Xiao Wu’s injury provokes immediate murderous rage, while his feelings for Xue Ke eventually lead him to abandon revenge and accept a subordinate role in her plans. 20 256 266
