Background / History

Wang Xiaohu is a mute, injured, and apparently solitary child whom Meng Qingshan takes under his care. Because mastering the Long Wind Heart Method is tied to Xiaohu's recovery, Meng spends three days conditioning his injuries and clearing his meridians with Two Poles True Qi while teaching him the heart method. Xiaohu is diligent but initially shows only average comprehension and cannot sense qi. 91

Meng obtains Golden Origin Pills for him and personally guides his first successful circulation. Xiaohu senses qi, consolidates it in his dantian, and begins his path in martial arts. Before departing on urgent business, Meng entrusts the remaining pills and funds to Mister Mo for Xiaohu's continued care. 92

During Meng's absence, Xiaohu maintains a strict routine: meditating at the hour of the Ox, sweeping the Changfeng courtyard, studying characters at Hui Chun Tang, and helping care for patients when possible. He regards this quiet life as an unusually stable and happy period, while aiming to become as strong as his master. 128
