When Chen Yu received Xidra's report, he was busy setting up the Aether Phase Engine.

For the time being, he had entrusted the Federation's highest military command to Gray Wind, while Xidra was in charge of the Scientific Research Department, the Department of Resources, and the other departments.

She usually took care of any issues that came up in those departments, and handled them perfectly.

As for Chen Yu, he devoted most of his energy to setting up the Aether Phase Engine.

The engine's construction had reached a critical stage, and he didn't want to be distracted in the slightest.

Setting up the Aether Phase Engine was simply a matter of how long the project would take.

Chen Yu didn't need to put his whole self into it, but for some unknown reason, the will of the civilization he bore was crowding around his own will.

Whenever his attention strayed from the engine's progress, the will of the entire civilization would send him an unknown sense of foreboding.

Yet he had no way to deal with it.

Even after Xidra examined him several times, she found nothing.

Although Xidra and Gray Wind were both aggregates of nanomachines, and their consciousnesses were mechanical intelligences, they also wielded immensely powerful Psionics.

Within the entire Human Federation, their Psionic strength was probably second only to Chen Yu's.

Gray Wind's Psionics came from the blessing of an unknown deity in the Void Realm.

Xidra's, on the other hand, came from her own Star Rule Technology.

One of the key foundational applications of Star Rule Technology involved Star Brilliance Crystal.

This was a programmable material with a four-dimensional folded structure.

Star Brilliance Crystal could repair and replicate itself by absorbing energy or matter from its surroundings.

Xidra's consciousness was made up of a vast data network of Star Brilliance Crystal, and the strength of a Psionic individual was, in practice, determined by the strength of their consciousness.

As a result, Xidra's Psionics were powerful beyond measure.

Xidra used her Psionics and Star Rule Technology to examine Chen Yu repeatedly, but she couldn't do anything about his symptoms.

With no other option, Chen Yu could only devote nearly all his energy to the Aether Phase Engine, hoping to suppress the interference from the will of the Federation's civilization as much as possible.

When he heard about the World Breaker, Chen Yu didn't react much. It was just another new calamity-level threat, nothing out of the ordinary. If it came looking for trouble, he would simply fight it.

But the moment the Eternal Throne was mentioned, he immediately shifted some of his attention to it.

The Eternal Throne was a transdimensional port that could grant eternal life.

Its effects were extraordinarily powerful. Those affected by it existed in a reality without fear, miracles, or any kind of ending.

Put another way, it could make people immortal!

This immortality had nothing to do with a long lifespan or physical immortality. It was immortality in the truest sense!

The inability to be killed, or to have one's life brought to an end by any technology, method, or means whatsoever!

To the Human Federation, the Eternal Throne was a supreme treasure.

As for how they had obtained it, naturally, they had taken it by force.

Even in the previous universe, the Human Federation's technology hadn't been advanced enough to create the Eternal Throne.

During its conquest of the Milky Way in the previous universe, the Federation had wiped out an alien civilization that possessed this treasure.

As for how that civilization had obtained it, it seemed they had taken it by force too, stealing it from a group of higher-dimensional demons known as the Formless Alien Envoys.

According to what was known, the original claimants of the Eternal Throne were a vast transdimensional empire.

That civilization's prosperity and splendor were built upon a higher dimension that transcended reality.

But for reasons unknown, the empire collapsed and became a ruin.

The higher-dimensional demons known as the Formless Alien Envoys were descendants born in the fading light of that transdimensional empire. They could be considered its last survivors.

Even as mere survivors, the splendor of their civilization's history was beyond imagination.

Measured by the passage of time, the Formless Alien Envoys had existed for far longer than the entire recorded history of the Known Universe in the previous universe.

According to the alien civilization that had seized the Eternal Throne from the Formless Alien Envoys, the Envoys' civilization was incredibly ancient and glorious, but the collapse of the transdimensional empire had forced them to go into hiding, leaving them extremely weak.

They had lost a war of succession, and other higher-dimensional demons were searching for the Formless Alien Envoys at every moment.

Unfortunately, the last remnants of the Formless Alien Envoys had escaped detection by those other higher-dimensional demons, only to be discovered by the alien civilization from the previous universe.

The two sides had fought a great battle in the center of the Milky Way in the previous universe.

After suffering a crushing defeat, the survivors of this higher-dimensional civilization were made into "living specimens" and put on permanent display in the other civilization's museum.

The alien civilization that had taken control of the Eternal Throne hadn't lasted much longer, either. It was eventually wiped out beneath the crushing force of the Human Federation's mighty fleets.

After all those twists and turns, the supreme treasure known as the Eternal Throne had finally fallen into the Federation's hands.

Some of the alien civilization's leaders had been affected by the Eternal Throne and become immortals, impossible to kill or bring to the end of their lives.

So Chen Yu ordered that these aliens be sent to the Museum Celestial Pivot, where they became permanent exhibits of the Federation.

The higher-dimensional demons known as the Formless Alien Envoys, along with the immortals from that alien civilization, were now imprisoned in the Museum Celestial Pivot, which had been established in a Star System near the Tianjin Star System where United Star was located.

The Eternal Throne had also been placed in that Star System.

As far as the Federation was concerned, the Eternal Throne's only practical use for now was as a tool for mass-producing immortals.

But behind it lay a war of succession for a transdimensional empire.

Chen Yu had known about this for a long time, but he hadn't expected that neither he nor the Federation had encountered any of the transdimensional empire's heirs seeking to seize the Eternal Throne in the previous universe.

Now, in this universe, they had come knocking.

These World Breakers, who had descended from higher dimensions, were clearly participants in that war of succession.

What drew Chen Yu's attention wasn't how much of a threat the World Breakers posed to the Federation.

It was that the World Breakers were only one of the participants in this war of succession for the transdimensional empire.

Sooner or later, the other heirs would probably come knocking too, like sharks following the scent of blood.

Of course, this was only Chen Yu's guess.

He hoped the appearance of the World Breakers was just a coincidence...

Otherwise, if these heirs of the transdimensional empire really came across universes one by one to seize the Eternal Throne, it would mean that the transdimensional empire whose succession they were contesting had once been a mighty existence like the Void Realm, capable of spreading its influence across countless universes.
