Chapter 16: The Angel Descends

Yi Chen was stunned by Yan's words, unable to snap out of it for a moment. Just by relying on personal charm to conquer an entire civilization—was this the Demon Queen?

Yi Chen wasn't foolish enough to believe it was purely a matter of charisma. There had to be information he didn't yet know.

"What if I could shield my own information? Then Morgana wouldn't be able to pinpoint my location, right?" Yi Chen asked, still clinging to a sliver of hope. Though he now felt some fear toward Morgana, he thought that if he could block information, he might still manage to avoid detection. And hearing Yan say Morgana might appear on Earth made him start to worry, constantly thinking about going back to check.

"Don't even think about it. The first thing Morgana will do when she reaches Earth is launch a Global Surveillance Scan. The Demon One she pilots might not match our Angels, but its computing power surpasses most civilizations. Not a single place on Earth can escape her detection—not even Super Seminary. So, relying on your strength alone, you can't block her scan.

Besides, if I'm in the middle of a mission, I won't be able to break away. If you go back and run into First or Second Generation Demons, you might be able to handle them. But Morgana has quite a few Third-Generation Demons under her command. Even I find those troublesome to deal with, let alone you in your current state. So it's really not possible—for your own safety."

"Kid, you're the man I've chosen. I won't allow anything to happen to you. Once I finish this mission, I'll find time to take you back to Earth. Don't worry—Earth won't face any major trouble in the short term. Isn't there still the Power of the Galaxy in Super Seminary? For now, he'll bear the brunt of things. You don't need to play the hero."

"And, Kid, are you always thinking about Earth because you think Super Seminary treats you better than I do, or because you think Lena and Qi Lin are prettier than me, hmm?" Yan said, leaning closer to Yi Chen, her bright eyes locking onto his, carrying a hint of accusation.

She believed that her devotion to Yi Chen over a long period was something Super Seminary couldn't match. So seeing him constantly think about Earth and Super Seminary, no matter the situation, genuinely irritated her.

"Of course not, Yan. To be honest, your devotion to me is beyond what Super Seminary could offer. But..." Realizing Yan's subtle emotional shift, Yi Chen quickly replied. Yet, though there were things he wanted to say, he didn't know how to express his feelings, so the words died on his lips.

"But what? But you still yearn for Earth, still worry about those people in Super Seminary, afraid they'll get hurt?"

"Kid, do you take everything I do for granted, and see their efforts as some kind of favor?"

Faced with Yan's pointed questioning, Yi Chen fell into a surprising silence, as if lost in memory.

The teasing of their first meeting, the joy of their reunion; the time she took him to Brahma Star when he was lost, gave him resources to upgrade, and trained alongside him—these scenes flashed one by one before Yi Chen's eyes.

Only then did he realize that, all along, he had indeed taken everything she did for him for granted, just as she said. It seemed he had never wondered why she treated him this way.

It turned out she had left her mark on his life long ago, a mark that hadn't faded with time but had only grown deeper.

Suddenly, he clearly thought: if he had never met Yan, where would he be now? Perhaps still training desperately in Super Seminary, preparing for unknown future enemies. Maybe he would have died in some war, starting another cycle like before, with no end in sight. But now, because of Yan, everything seemed to be heading in a better direction. It was all thanks to meeting her.

Yan reached out and waved a hand in front of Yi Chen's eyes. Seeing him so lost in thought, a faint smile unconsciously curled at the corner of her lips.

A glimmer of starlight flickered in her eyes, as if she had read something, and her mood shifted slightly.

"Kid, what are you thinking about, so absorbed?"

"Mm... recalling some memories..."

Yi Chen replied. He wouldn't speak aloud of Yan's devotion to him, but he kept it etched in his mind.

"Mm, it's getting late. I'll set off for Merlo Star tonight and head to Earth tomorrow. I'll ask you one last time—do you really want to come back to Earth with me?"

"Mm... not this time. There will be other chances, won't there?"

"Mm, then I'm off, Kid. Stay here and wait for me obediently." Hearing Yi Chen's answer, Yan smiled and spoke. She had finally convinced him. She had been afraid he would insist on returning to Earth, which would have been hard for her to stop.

"Alright."

The moment Yi Chen's words fell, a pair of holy wings spread from Yan's back. With a stretch of those wings, her figure quickly vanished from Yi Chen's sight.

After Yan left, Yi Chen went alone to sit by a cliff edge. The grass and flowers here were sparser than elsewhere, and the surroundings were quiet, without the rustling of leaves.

"System?" Yi Chen said softly.

"Here, Host."

"How many Combat Power Points do I have now?"

"Recently, the Host has completed seven System Missions, earning a total of 30,500 Combat Power Points. Among them, successfully upgrading the Divine Body earned 15,000 points."

"Only that much... Ah, right, System. Why can't the Engine be activated yet?"

"Host, please be patient. Activating the Engine requires completing missions issued by the system at specific times, or there's a certain probability of direct activation when the Host is in a near-death state. However, the system does not recommend attempting this lightly."

"Alright." After asking what he wanted to know, Yi Chen fell silent, sitting motionless on the cliff edge, his thoughts drifting somewhere unknown.

Back on Earth, the Xiong Bing Lian was training intensely, pressed for time. Thanks to the information Yan had brought not long ago, Super Seminary already knew Earth had been targeted by the Taotie civilization.

Now, Earth's greatest reliance was the Xiong Bing Lian. If every member could fully unleash their potential, Earth might still have a chance to win this war.

"Heh heh, I feel like I'm almost catching up to the speed of light now," Zhao Xin said. He had just finished today's training and was bragging to Ge Xiaolun beside him.

"Hey, Xin, I really envy you. Look at me—all I do day in and day out is get beaten up and do nothing useful. Tell me, am I not just some damn cannon fodder?" Watching his teammates one by one soar through the skies and move heaven and earth, Ge Xiaolun grew more and more disheartened. He even began to wonder if he had been tricked into joining in the first place.

Just then, the military alarm on the Giant Gorge Ship suddenly blared, followed by Lena's voice.

"Hurry, hurry, hurry! Everyone, assemble on the deck!"

"Boss, what's going on?" Zhao Xin asked Lena, whose expression was grim.
