Background / History

Accounts recorded in Huoyao’s diary allege that Han Chen recognized Han San as an outer-realm demon after the memories of his real son were erased. He initially considered killing Han San, but changed course after Han San displayed exceptional talent and awakened twin martial souls, thereafter treating him as his own son and heir 3.

The same diary portrays Han Chen as a long-term planner willing to exploit others’ sacrifices. It alleges that he allowed the Blue Silver Emperor to be hunted at her weakest point and later intended to preserve Xiao Wu until Han San could gain the greatest benefit from her hundred-thousand-year soul ring and soul bone 2 3.

Yin Yuan later concludes that her relationship with Han Chen was founded on manipulation, believing that he used her potential and the Heavenly Emperor’s Golden Seal for his own advancement. Her discovery of these alleged schemes turns her into one of his enemies 31 107.

Han Chen’s hopes for the restoration of the Heavenly Demon Emperor are tied to Han San’s future strength, making threats to Han San provoke extreme anger and violence 95. He can nevertheless be restrained when convinced that acting would worsen his position, as shown when Han San dissuades him from attacking Guo Xin in the capital 124.
