Background / History

Diary revelations identify Han San as a being from beyond the realm. Han Chen allegedly discovered this identity after erasing his biological son's memories; although Han Chen initially considered killing Han San, Han San's talent and twin martial-soul awakening caused him to accept him as his own heir instead. The same revelations portray Han Chen as intending to exploit Han San's potential for personal advancement. 3

Han San travels with Xiao Wu, who had long relied on him as an older brother. After receiving the diary, she becomes fearful that Han Chen knows she is a hundred-thousand-year spirit beast, but conceals her panic from Han San when he notices something is wrong. 2 3

Han Chen later pressures Imperial Dragon Academy to protect and properly train Han San without telling him of Han Chen's involvement. Han Chen calls him his disciple and demands that his training not be disrupted. 28

At one point, the Grandmaster accepts Han San as a disciple and gives him the name Yu Chen. Yu Xiaoqian subsequently discovers the abnormal black Nascent Soul stage associated with Han San's three-level Star Picking Hand. 70

Repeated forced gains and losses of Demon Power severely damage Han San's cultivation. He absorbs ten years of Demon Power, collapses during a Heavenly Domain bottleneck, later loses spiritual energy and is described as crippled. His injuries deepen after Yueyan's power is devoured, and he eventually loses his cultivation base entirely. 59 68 103 113

Personality

Han San is protective of those he considers close, particularly Xiao Wu and Han Chen. He worries over Xiao Wu's safety, is willing to confront Huohuo after Xiao Wu's duel, and remains beside the weakened Han Chen to offer support. 33 57 107

He is ambitious and calculating. He conceals Han-family techniques, plans to establish his own Han family, and evaluates Luo Xi and General Ke Lin's retainers as potential recruits. He later attempts to draw Yu Tianya into the Heavenly Demon Emperor's Estate. 32 131

His attachment to Xiao Wu develops into jealousy as she becomes closer to Duoxu and Huoyao. Yueyan's taunts over Xiao Wu provoke an angry breakthrough in Han San's spiritual power. 50 57

Han San can also be ruthless. During the search for Han Chen's missing treasure, he proposes throwing Old Ancestor Ke into the Demon Refining Pool if Han Chen will not act. After Old General Ke is left alive, Han San kills him, then justifies the act as sparing him a life of pain. This leaves Yu Xiaoqian, Chang Feng, and others resentful and distrustful of him. 114 115
