Background

Bai Lu first appears in the Star Dou Great Forest as a severely wounded Hundred-Thousand-Year White Tiger. When Zhu Zhuqing is surrounded by five pursuing Soul Masters, he kills them with overwhelming force, then confronts her and offers a path to power: she may accept his sacrifice and gain the strength to change her fate. He chooses her because her Hell Spirit Cat Martial Soul is naturally compatible with his power and because he sees her refusal to submit to her predetermined destiny. 2

He devises and carries out an unusually dangerous fusion procedure, combining his sacrifice with a hundred-thousand-year soul bone. The process preserves Bai Lu as an intelligent Soul Ring within Zhu Zhuqing's spiritual world and creates her White Tiger second Martial Soul. 3 5

Following the sacrifice, Bai Lu directs Zhu Zhuqing toward exceptional resources rather than ordinary advancement.
