Background / History
As an Imperial Guard, Hela serves the ruler seated on Hain's Crystal Throne and initially regards royal succession struggles as beneath the Guard's concern. She is nevertheless willing to profit from palace intrigue when it benefits her. 15
Hela's divine authority connected to Life allows her to create Demigod dolls using herself as their mother body. Her three daughters were created with the blood of fellow Imperial Guards to preserve their bloodline purity; one, Cystia Hela, was made using Cystia Hain's blood. 14 16
Her obsession with acquiring equipment and treasure shaped much of her early conduct. During an Emerald Plains patrol, she obtained the soul-devouring Priestley worm as a trophy, and she later extorted Constance's golden Dragon Soul Sword after discovering Rhine's dealings with Olivia. 10 11 14
Appearance
Hela is a slender black-haired beauty whose high-purity goddess bloodline gives her an almost divine charm. Her appearance can overwhelm ordinary people and make those near her prone to infatuation. 10 11 20
- Black hair and an elegant, slender build. 10 11
- Possesses an extraordinary, deity-like beauty attributed to her divine bloodline. 10 20
- Commonly wears iron armor in combat; one damaged suit was an irreplaceable, ten-thousand-year-old model. 27
- Her combat armor can reform from a viscous, living gel-like material after being destroyed. 27
Personality
Hela is greedy, calculating, cruel, and largely dismissive of mortal morality. She treats intelligence as a commodity, sees political secrets as leverage, and is comfortable with intimidation, extortion, and assassination when the price is right. 10 13 15
Despite this ruthlessness, she is notably gentler toward her Imperial Guard sisters and her dolls. She chose to protect Rhine's secret partly because Constance was implicated, even though she still sought payment from Constance for her silence. 11 13 14
Her encounter with Rhine changes her priorities. Initially reluctant to blackmail him because of her sudden attraction, she later pledges herself to his cause for Obadiah's treasure and gradually becomes sincerely devoted to him. After obtaining the wealth she had always wanted, she instead experiences emptiness and seeks validation from Rhine. 11 17 35 37 41

- Endured Obadiah's devastating punch and later survived dragon breath through extensive dragon-warding blessings. 27 31
- Her high-purity bloodline produces a supernatural allure that affects onlookers. 10
Spatial Manipulation and Perception
Hela can open spatial rifts for transport, storage, communication, and deploying her dolls. Her perception can monitor activity around Dreamland, though its Nether Realm barrier blocks detailed detection. 11 14 18
- Teleports herself and others across long distances. 18 19
- Stores vast quantities of treasure, equipment, and Obadiah's corpse in dimensional space. 15 35

Demigod Doll Creation
Through the divine authority of Life, Hela creates Demigod dolls in her own image. The dolls act as her daughters, attendants, scouts, and combat partners. 14 16

- Uses the dolls to assist in battle, defend Rhine, cast prepared magic, and restrain opponents. 27 44
- The dolls possess independent personalities and often challenge Hela's greed or decisions. 14 15
Artifact-Based Combat
Hela compensates for the gap between herself and top-ranked Demigods by accumulating and layering powerful equipment, blessings, and weapons. 24 26
- Owns four sets of max-level divine equipment. 24
- Can deploy numerous golden-quality items to stack combat blessings and amplify her strength. 26
- Used her self-repairing iron armor and accumulated buffs to deliver a crippling strike to Obadiah. 27
- Coordinated with her dolls' charged magic weapons and a City-Destroying Curse during the battle against Obadiah. 27
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Priestley — A crystal-clear mineral worm, described as residue from a sprite Demigod. It devours souls and can erase memories, though its damage is unpredictable. 10
- Self-repairing iron armor — A treasured, out-of-print armor set that can reform after destruction and withstand immense combat stress. 27
- Golden-quality equipment collection — Hela maintains a large collection of high-grade weapons, armor, and blessings gathered through patrols, transactions, and extortion. 10 24 26
- Dragon Soul Sword — Constance's golden weapon, which Hela extorted and attempted to give to one of her dolls. 11 14
- Obadiah's hoard and corpse — Following the ancient dragon's defeat, Hela claimed hundreds of golden equipment pieces, unmeasurable ancient relics, and Obadiah's body for future forging. 35 37
- Obadiah's rib — A portion of the ancient dragon's remains that helped draw the Golden Land's attention to Hela. 39
Relationships
- Rhine Hain — Initially a potential blackmail target after Hela learns of his contact with Olivia. Rhine's offer of Obadiah's treasure wins her allegiance; their partnership grows into love, and Hela ultimately confesses her feelings and vows to follow his commands. 11 17 35 41 48
- Thea Constance — Fellow Imperial Guard and “sister.” Hela exploits Constance by demanding her Dragon Soul Sword for Rhine's safety, yet remains protective of her because of their sisterly bond. 11 13 14
- Hela's Dolls — Her three Demigod daughters, created through her authority of Life. They serve beside her but frequently oppose her greed and become strongly attached to Rhine. 14 16 24
- Prince Edgeworth — Offered Hela immense wealth to support his succession bid and assassinate Rhine. Hela refused to formally join him, then later weakened his position by persuading Lilia to leave his side. 15 40
- Lilia Hain — An Imperial Guard sister whom Hela bribed with Obadiah's ingredients to abandon the Prince's employment. Their intercepted communication exposed Hela to the Golden Land's scrutiny. 40 41
- Obadiah — Candidate Dragon Princess and Hela's opponent in the Blazing Sun Deep Wall. Hela and her dolls fought him alongside Rhine's plans, though Obadiah's true-form barrier nearly crushed them. 26 27 28 31 35
- White Vulture — A Demigod mercenary who probes Hela about Rhine and deliberately provokes her over their relationship. Hela nearly attacks her during their confrontation. 44 46
Story Role / Major Arcs
Dreamland Secret and Constance's Sword
Hela learns that Rhine entered Dreamland and that Olivia's aura erupted beneath it. She prevents two Civil Officials from spreading the information by using Priestley to erase their memories, then considers selling Rhine's secret for profit. 10 11
After becoming flustered by her first sight of Rhine, Hela abandons her plan to blackmail him directly and instead demands Constance's Dragon Soul Sword as the price of silence. 11 12 13
Allegiance to Rhine
Prince Edgeworth attempts to recruit Hela with a gold mine and an enormous hidden reserve of gold, but Hela resists partly because her dolls favor Rhine. 15 16
Rhine secures her loyalty by promising nearly all of an ancient dragon's inheritance in exchange for her aid in hunting Obadiah. Hela immediately reframes the offer as her reward for serving the future Emperor. 17
Subjugation of Obadiah
Hela escorts Rhine toward Leta and the Desolate Frozen Land, using spatial travel while warning him about dangers between dimensions. 18 19
In Obadiah's lair, Hela fights the ancient dragon during his vulnerable shedding period. Obadiah initially destroys her armor and overwhelms her dolls, but Hela returns in restored armor, uses accumulated buffs, and leads a coordinated counterattack. 26 27
Obadiah's true form and barrier ultimately overpower Hela and the dolls, leaving her unable to escape or meaningfully counterattack. After the battle concludes, Hela gathers the dragon's entire hoard and corpse into dimensional storage. 28 31 35
Golden Land Conflict
Hela uses Obadiah's ingredients to lure Lilia away from Prince Edgeworth, hoping Rhine will recognize her value. The action instead alerts the Golden Land to Obadiah's death and places Hela in danger. 40 41
She accompanies Rhine to the Golden Land and immediately kills a Goblin leader on his command, demonstrating that her loyalty has become action rather than a transaction. 44 45
Confession
After struggling with jealousy, guilt, and her feelings for Rhine, Hela breaks the Imperial Guard's chastity rule and confesses her love. Rhine accepts her affection, and Hela pledges herself completely to him. 46 48 50
Notable Quotes
“Guys with balls shouldn't be acting like princesses.” 27
“Your command is my everything... my love.” 48
Trivia
- As a child, Hela enjoyed bringing dimensional creatures into the mortal world to watch them self-destruct. 19
- Her own dolls possess a stronger moral conscience than she does; one refused Constance's extorted sword because Constance needed it more. 14
- When attempting to prepare breakfast for Rhine, Hela accidentally erased an entire kitchen into a void and fled to buy food instead. 48
