Background / History

Obadiah is a distant relative of Olivia, the recognized Ancient Dragon Princess. Though Olivia retained authority over the ancient dragons after becoming an Evil God, Obadiah was among the challengers who sought to take that authority from her. He was undertaking a molting-and-ascension ritual intended to qualify him for the throne. 13 26 31

His lair lay in the frozen lands of northern Lyra, near the Blazing Sun Deep Wall. It was protected by a powerful barrier and filled with collected relics, divine equipment, and ancient treasures. Obadiah had also killed numerous Demigods and other intruders whose corpses were left around the entrance and within the lair. 19 25 34 35

Among his most significant possessions was the New Single-Handed Sword 01, a holy artifact of the ancient dragons and a relic of the Great Creator. The weapon was integrated into the gilded tower in his domain and protected by 3,600 restrictions. 29 30

Appearance

Obadiah can assume both a humanoid form and a true ancient-dragon form. During his molting period, he was confined to his humanoid body; after his defeat and revival, he appeared as a miniature chibi dragon. 26 28 42

Personality

Obadiah is proud, confrontational, and deeply invested in ancient-dragon hierarchy. He considered Olivia a traitor to their race and regarded her rule as illegitimate, despite being her blood relative. His ambition to become the next Ancient Dragon Princess drove him to attempt ascension and challenge her authority. 13 27 42

He is easily provoked by perceived insults, particularly regarding his status and gender. Even while facing Hela, he insisted that ancient-dragon affairs were beyond the concern of outsiders. 26 27

After his death, Obadiah’s attitude became conflicted. He remained hostile toward Rhine and initially maintained his opposition to Olivia, but her decision to preserve his life caused him to question his beliefs. He is reverential and submissive toward Constance, whom he identifies as his “Lord.” 42

Obadiah’s attempted ascension made him a direct threat to Olivia’s position as Ancient Dragon Princess. Rhine offered to eliminate him in exchange for access to his treasures, while Olivia sought to prevent Obadiah from stripping her authority. 13 14

Battle at the Blazing Sun Deep Wall

Rhine and Hela entered Obadiah’s lair while he was molting. Obadiah initially overwhelmed Hela and her puppets, but Hela retaliated with enhanced equipment, a coordinated assault, and a City-Destroying Curse. 25 27

After surviving the first phase, Obadiah emerged in his true form and activated his barrier, crushing Hela and the puppets with the power drawn from Leta’s ley lines. 28

Loss of the Holy Sword and Death

Rhine controlled the puppet Histia to mutilate Obadiah and manipulate his emotions. In desperation, Obadiah summoned the New Single-Handed Sword 01, only for Lilia to steal it. 29 30

The Grand Tutor briefly restrained Obadiah and exposed Rhine’s mental manipulation, but Constance ultimately used the Golden Sword to pierce Obadiah’s heart. Obadiah accepted death peacefully after recognizing Constance and the holy artifact she wielded. 30 32

Revival and Service

Olivia secretly spared Obadiah because he had not yet openly acted on his rebellion. He reappeared in miniature form, weakened to “only slightly better than a dog” but preserved through temporary immortality. 42

Rhine subsequently treated him as a disposable combat resource, borrowing him as a “meat shield” and later intending to use his authorization over the New Single-Handed Sword 01 to clear a demon lair. 42 50
