Upon learning that Uchiha Itachi had discovered a mysterious underground space, Youhu's expression turned sour. Guided by Kakashi, the two followed closely behind Uchiha Itachi.
Uchiha Itachi was a ninja who possessed two distinct traits: the Lone Star and Strong Luck.
Any ninja who spent a long time with Uchiha Itachi would have their luck rapidly drained, quickly falling into misfortune, while that luck was converted into Uchiha Itachi's own Strong Luck.
When Uchiha Itachi was eight years old and training at the training grounds, he encountered Orochimaru and absorbed his luck.
Not long after, Orochimaru's research into Wood Style was exposed, and he was driven out of Konoha by the Third Hokage during a period of upheaval, becoming a stray dog.
Shisui saved Uchiha Itachi, only to have one of his Mangekyo Sharingan gouged out by Uchiha Itachi in the end.
Fugaku and Mikoto gave birth to and raised Uchiha Itachi, only to be rewarded with the annihilation of their clan; of the hundreds of people in the great clan, only Sasuke remained as the sole survivor.
Even Danzo was affected; after the night of the clan annihilation, he lost the power to command the Root.
Later, during his first major mission after defecting, he dragged Juzo Biwa down with him, successfully allowing Kisame Hoshigaki to become the third owner of the Samehada.
At the same time, Uchiha Itachi's luck could be described as heaven-defying.
It was understandable that he held the three great ocular techniques of Kotoamatsukami, Tsukuyomi, and Amaterasu, as these came from his own Mangekyo and his friend's puppet.
Mastering Fūinjutsu: Copy, Izanagi, and Izanami was also acceptable.
After all, he was the son of the Clan Head, Fugaku; it was entirely understandable that he would know some of the Uchiha Inheritance.
But the Totsuka Blade and the Yata Mirror were excessive. Whose Susanoo comes with two divine artifacts, simultaneously providing both the strongest defense and the strongest attack?
It was unlikely that these were abilities inherent to the Mangekyo.
The only reasonable explanation was that after Uchiha Itachi defected from the village, he stumbled into some Uchiha ruins.
Following Itachi into an underground passage.
The passage was extremely narrow at first, only wide enough for one person to pass through. After advancing for several dozen meters, it suddenly widened. At the end of the passage was an underground space of considerable size.
In the center of the underground space stood a stone gate engraved with the Uchiha crest.
Seeing this stone gate, Youhu could guess that this was the place where Uchiha Madara spent his later years. Only the elderly Uchiha Madara would have needed to hide and skulk about, not daring to be exposed.
"Senior Itachi, this wouldn't be the place where Obito received Uchiha Madara's inheritance, would it?"
"If there truly is a place of Uchiha Madara's inheritance, it must be here..."
Itachi was not entirely certain either. He had only come deep underground out of curiosity, and upon seeing the Uchiha clan crest, he had hurried up to notify Youhu and Kakashi.
Looking at the massive stone gate before them, Kakashi's expression was extremely solemn as he said in a low tone:
"Youhu, you guessed right again. There really is Uchiha Madara's inheritance in the Grass Country. Obito must have received special training here, which is how he became so strong."
"Let's go in and take a look; there might be some useful intelligence inside."
Kakashi said this while pushing against the Stone Gate.
However, it was awkward; he couldn't budge the Stone Gate at all and could only signal Youhu with his eyes to come over and help.
Youhu walked over and gave it a light push, and the Stone Gate opened easily. "Captain Kakashi, you really need to work out. Stop reading Icha Icha Paradise every single day..."
Kakashi's old face flushed red. "That was pure brute force; what does that have to do with reading Icha Icha Paradise?"
They entered the Stone Gate.
Behind the Stone Gate was a spacious hall connected to several small rooms of unknown function. Inside were various pieces of discarded furniture and some abandoned weapons.
"This place has been abandoned for many years."
Kakashi touched the furniture; it was covered in a thick layer of dust, but judging by the wear on the furniture, someone had definitely lived here once.
Perhaps Obito had studied and trained here.
Itachi went to the abandoned Equipment Room, where several damaged suits of armor were displayed.
This was armor from the Warring States Period. Its defensive capabilities were excellent, but it was too heavy. After Konohagakure was established, it was gradually replaced by Ninja Combat Suits.
The weapons on the ground had also lost their former luster due to rust and were almost unusable.
Seeing this, Itachi could confirm that this place was indeed the former hiding place of Uchiha Madara.
After his battle with Hashirama Senju back then, Uchiha Madara must have used some method to escape, but he had suffered extremely severe losses because of it and was forced to come here to recuperate.
Otherwise, according to the records in the archives, this legendary Uchiha Clan Head would have long since slaughtered his way back to Konoha.
If only he could find Uchiha Madara's inheritance here, or find a way to integrate the clan into the village. He also wondered what Obito had experienced here to turn into the Village Attacking Masked Man.
After searching the Equipment Room, Itachi didn't find anything useful.
On the other side, Kakashi also came up empty-handed. He hadn't found any books or ninjutsu left behind by Uchiha Madara, nor had he seen anything resembling an inheritance ground.
Leaving the rooms they had been searching, Kakashi met up with Itachi and asked softly, "Itachi, did you have any luck on your side? Did you find any divine weapons left behind by Uchiha Madara?"
Itachi shook his head and then said:
"The Uchiha Gunbai taken by Madara is not here. The Gunbai must be in Obito's hands. What I can be certain of is that Uchiha Madara definitely stayed here."
"I didn't find anything on my side either; all the books in the library were taken away."
Kakashi wasn't surprised by this, as he hadn't found anything on his side either. "By the way, where did Youhu go? He isn't wandering off again, is he?"
That was a real possibility.
Itachi and Kakashi looked at each other, reading the meaning in each other's eyes, and hurried toward the final room.
Inside the last room of the underground space.
Rather than a room, it was more like a second hall. The room was empty, as if something had once been there but had since been taken away, leaving behind only an ordinary stone bed.
Youhu was sitting cross-legged on the stone bed, gazing at a mural hanging near the entrance of the room.
Itachi and Kakashi followed Youhu's gaze and quickly discovered the mural. Carved upon it was the deity recorded in the Uchiha records—mysterious and powerful.
Youhu was staring intensely at the Uchiha deity on the mural, not even noticing that they had entered.
"What is Youhu doing?"
Kakashi was puzzled. He didn't understand what was so interesting about this Uchiha deity; it didn't seem any different from the deities in the temples of the Land of Fire.
However, he didn't want to disturb Youhu, worried that waking him at this moment might have adverse effects.
At this moment, Itachi seemed to think of something. He pulled Kakashi to the side and said with a solemn expression, "Captain Kakashi, this must be the inheritance left behind by Uchiha Madara. Youhu is currently comprehending Uchiha Madara's inheritance."
"Ah, this is Uchiha Madara's inheritance?"
Kakashi was slightly startled. He had never seen this kind of inheritance before; shouldn't an inheritance be stored in a library in the form of a scroll?
What could a stone wall possibly record?
Itachi nodded and said solemnly:
"Captain Kakashi, you forget our Uchiha illusion techniques. We can transmit large amounts of information through illusion methods. This stone wall might contain a similar ninjutsu."
"The Uchiha are truly enviable."
Kakashi had never seen an Uchiha inheritance either, so he could only choose to believe it, while sighing at Youhu's luck.
"I hope Youhu can comprehend something useful. It is still a bit of a stretch to fight Obito with only Jonin-level strength."
