Ryobu used Wood Style, Susanoo, Magnet Release, and Shukaku’s sealing technique to overcome Satoru’s speed and healing. Satoru was trapped in an Iron Sand Layer Great Burial Seal and drained of Chakra, while Black and White Zetsu watched Ryobu with Shukaku.

• Ryobu attacked Satoru with an Iron Sand Dragon, but Satoru healed his injuries and replenished his Chakra with the Box of Paradise.

Liao Wu stopped the Box of Paradise’s rampage at Hozuki Castle and entered its dark Otherworld Space to find a way to control Satoru. He summoned the Takigakure Ancient Tree into the box’s vast inner space, preparing to use it against the negative energy there.

• Black and White Zetsu appeared at Hozuki Castle to remind Liao Wu that Madara was watching him, but fled when he charged at them.
• Liao Wu used Magnet Release Chakra and Wood Style to seal the Box of Paradise’s mouths and subdue the puppets it controlled.
• Liao Wu shocked Shirakawa and Elder Rat Face when they failed to provide a way to control the box, while Elder Ox Face and the other elders knocked themselves unconscious to avoid being sent inside.
• Mune Soichiro told Liao Wu that whoever controlled the Box of Paradise could control Satoru and suggested purging its negative energy.
• Liao Wu sent a Spore Clone into the box’s dark Otherworld Space, then had Candy throw in the Takigakure Ancient Tree’s Summoning Scroll.
• The Spore Clone summoned the Takigakure Ancient Tree inside the box, whose Otherworld Space was large enough to contain it.

Liao Wu used the Takigakure Ancient Tree to absorb the Box of Paradise’s negative energy and take control of its inmates, then turned to the problem of Satoru. In Rain Village, Tsunade’s staff stopped Nonō’s assassination attempt and revealed her as a Root spy, leaving Tsunade to investigate Danzo’s motives.

• The Takigakure Ancient Tree absorbed the Box of Paradise’s negative energy, grew to 300 meters, and restored some inmates to normal.
• The tree took control of Space of Enlightenment and brainwashed the people beneath its shadow into becoming Ayaka Kamisato’s dogs.
• Liao Wu severed his connection to the Spore Clone and said they had to deal with Satoru next.
• Nonō approached Tsunade with pastries and tried to attack her with a Chakra Scalpel, but Cai Lai restrained her using the Rasa Puppet.
• Tsunade recognized Nonō, saw the Cursed Tongue Eradication Seal, and realized she was a Root spy who had killed Nagayama Minoru.

Nonō revealed her identity as the Wandering Miko, Leaf Village’s Ace Spy, but Tsunade hesitated to interrogate her while Cai Lai had her taken away. At Hozuki Castle, Liao Wu subdued Satoru, bound him to a summoning contract, and implanted a Life Spore before preparing to leave with Candy.

• Nonō identified herself as the Wandering Miko, and Tsunade recognized her as Leaf Village’s retired Ace Spy.
• Nonō reminded Tsunade of her Senju heritage, unsettling her, so Cai Lai ordered the Ninja Cats to take Nonō away and beat her.
• Cai Lai comforted Tsunade with Liao Wu’s words about everyone wintering alone in their own life.
• Liao Wu planted the Takigakure Ancient Tree at Hozuki Castle, placed the Box of Paradise inside it, and freed Satoru from the Iron Sand.

Liao Wu left Hozuki Castle with Satoru subdued, the Box of Paradise secured, and the Grass Village shinobi staying behind to guard the castle. As Ryūsetsu promised Wu Gou she would return, Black and White Zetsu watched the growing Takigakure Ancient Tree and discussed Madara’s plans.

• Liao Wu set rules for Satoru, then left Hozuki Castle aboard Seven-Tails with Hagi Chiho and Ryūsetsu while the Grass Village shinobi stayed behind.

Liao Wu returned to Amegakure with the Seven-Tails and told Madara the truth about the Box of Paradise, but Madara punished him for using it and assigned him to face the approaching Ninja Alliance. After Candy pulled Liao Wu away from Madara, he vented his anger in an alley and was urged to become stronger.

• Liao Wu returned from Hozuki Castle with the Seven-Tails, having absorbed its Chakra and turned it into a Seven-Tails Spore.
• Liao Wu told Madara that the Box of Paradise held Satoru, a demon that could read minds and predict the moves of those who feared or hated it.
• Madara discovered that Liao Wu had activated the Box of Paradise and electrocuted him until Liao Wu admitted he had wished for a Kitten Girl.
• Madara knocked the Seven-Tails aside, took it to seal inside the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, and ordered Liao Wu to face the Ninja Alliance when it invaded the Land of Rain.

Liao Wu freed Seven-Tails Chongming from a clone, made him submit, and gained access to his abilities as he prepared to seek Sage Mode with Tsunade. When he went to find Tsunade, he learned she had been attacked and headed to the interrogation room to confront the suspect.

• Candy encouraged Liao Wu to overcome his despair and seek the Slug Sage’s help entering Ryūchi Cave for Sage Mode.
• Liao Wu unsealed the Seven-Tails clone, showed Chongming how he had been controlled, and made him agree to work for him and help free his true body.
• Chongming described his abilities, including flight, blinding and paralyzing powder, and control over insects, and Liao Wu gave him a new appearance before housing him in his body.
• Liao Wu went to the Government Affairs Building and heard that Tsunade had been assassinated by Nonō, whom Cai Lai had taken in.
• Liao Wu followed the Ninja Cats to the interrogation room, where Cai Lai and Fish Ball were questioning Nonō.

Ryobu interrogated Nonō about her attempt to assassinate Tsunade, using the orphanage children as leverage, while the Five Kage chose the Third Hokage to lead the Ninja Alliance. The summit ended with Danzo proposing that the Alliance kill the Jinchuriki if defeat seemed inevitable, delaying Madara’s Moon Eye Plan.

• Ryobu recognized Nonō as the former Root spy and healed her injuries before confronting her about Danzo’s order to assassinate Tsunade.

• Granny Chiyo and Pakura realized that Liao Wu’s spies had likely learned what happened, while his Sealing Technique had hidden them from sensory detection.
• Claw admitted that Liao Wu had copied her clan’s Secret Technique, and Torifu and Shibi urged her not to let her resentment divide the allies.
• Shisui celebrated regaining his sight as Itachi asked to go to the battlefield; Izumi teased him about begging his uncle, and Shisui promised to teach him the Crow Clone Technique.

Nonō’s Rinkaichū poison nearly killed her and Ryobu, but Ryobu survived with Seven-Tails Chongming’s help and saved her. Nonō awoke in a hospital in Amegakure, while Kabuto’s fusion with Orochimaru’s cells succeeded after Danzo used Nonō’s supposed death to provoke him.

• Tsunade demanded that Ryobu release Nonō, but Candy drained Tsunade’s Chakra and controlled Konan when she tried to intervene.
• Ryobu and Nonō were poisoned by Rinkaichū, which Nonō revealed attacked and destroyed cells, even overcoming Hashirama Cells.

• Ryobu sent Snow Leopard to rescue Kabuto, bring milk to the Orphanage, and help Nonō there, then implanted a spore in Nonō to control her.
• Ryobu controlled Tsunade and summoned Small Slug, demanding that he take him to Ryūchi Cave to learn Senjutsu.

Liao Wu prepared to travel to Ryūchi Cave and undergo its dangerous Senjutsu trials, despite Tsunade and Konan worrying about him. After he left Rain Village, Madara learned that Liao Wu had defeated Satoru and gained control of him, but remained confident that no one could challenge him.

In Shikkotsu Forest, Hashirama and Tobirama met the Slug Sage so Hashirama could learn to wield Truth-Seeking Orbs against Madara, while Orochimaru struggled with his fear of the Sage.
