Background / History
Fangzhang Island is one of the legendary Overseas Three Immortal Islands in the Primordial World, originally concealed beneath the sea inside an Innate Guardian and Conversion Array that continuously converts Chaos Qi into Innate Spiritual Qi 18 19. Discovered by Qing Xuan and Nuwa through the transformation of a Spirit Qi Dragon and a Dragon Pearl, the island was successfully refined by Qing Xuan over a thousand years using its boundary tablet 18 19.
Initially a rootless floating island drifting across the East Sea, Qing Xuan eventually anchored it by connecting its spiritual vein to the Dragon Tomb, drawing the attention of the East Sea Dragon King Ao Guang and leading to the submission and discipleship of the Dragon Clan's young talents 19 23 24 25 28. Following encounters with powerful beings like Kunpeng and interactions with visitors such as Zhen Yuanzi, Hong Yun, and Tongtian, the island's status was further elevated when Penglai and Yingzhou islands were connected to it in a Three Powers Formation of Heaven, Earth, and Man 45 46 53. Serving as the central sanctuary and residence for Qing Xuan, Nuwa, Houtu, Fu Xi, and various disciples, Fangzhang Island remains a heavily warded haven featuring the Three Lights Divine Water Pool, the Pure World White Lotus, and a modernized courtyard house 19 23 28 41 43.
