Background / History

Mahito is a transmigrator who awakens in the body of Mahito, a cursed spirit born from humanity’s fear and hatred of humanity. After realizing where he is, he adopts the name Mahito for convenience and to make use of its connection to the body’s innate technique 1 2.

Initially, Mahito experiences the violent instincts of a cursed spirit: an urge to harm, deceive, and kill humans. He later concludes that cursed spirits are incomplete lifeforms because they possess only negative energy, and resolves to remake himself into a half-cursed spirit capable of wielding positive energy as well 2 8.

His early actions focus on experimentation and information gathering. He transforms Junpei Yoshino into an incarnation-linked sorcerer and infiltrates Tokyo Jujutsu High through her, while using curse users such as Haruta Shigemo as subjects to study soul structures and enhance cursed energy 3 4 5.
