Background

Gojo became the modern era's strongest after surviving a near-fatal confrontation with Toji Fushiguro, perfectly fusing the Six Eyes with Limitless and later killing Toji in revenge 47. Despite his overwhelming strength, he remained at Tokyo Jujutsu High to cultivate sorcerers capable of replacing the corrupt leadership of Jujutsu Society 7.

He regards the Six Eyes and Limitless as power rather than a means of extending his life; previous wielders of both abilities died naturally, and Gojo initially had no path to immortality 6. Tengen later reveals that the Six Eyes are an aspect of godhood and calls Gojo the living god of his era 68.

His first battle with Mahito exposes vulnerabilities in his otherwise overwhelming combat system. His confidence is immense, but it is rooted in a lifetime of overcoming opponents rather than empty bravado.

He is deeply protective of his students and allies. He recruits Junpei rather than discard her potential, supports Hakari despite his defection, refuses to allow Tengen to be used as bait, and continues trying to save people even when confronting overwhelming threats 4 42 74 76. His long-term goal is to replace Jujutsu Society's leadership with a stronger generation of sorcerers 7.

Gojo acknowledges that arrogance caused him to underestimate Mahito.
