The other Sovereign Gods watching were somewhat surprised, but they also felt that it was only natural.
After all, Fallen God Angels were the "Humanoid Weapons" of Darkness System Sovereign Gods. Christine's actions meant that this was undoubtedly the Dark Overlord's intention.
Thinking of the conflict between the Dark Overlord and the Four Divine Beast Sovereign Gods, everything made sense.
However, after the battle at Dragon Soul City, the conflict between the Darkness System Sovereign Gods and the Four Divine Beasts would likely never be reconciled.
The death of one grandson meant little to Leiding. But with countless God level experts and more than a dozen Sovereign Gods watching, if he showed no reaction, he would become a laughingstock among the Sovereign Gods.
Was the Dark Overlord preparing to fight the Four Divine Beasts now?
Everyone was watching the show.
They did not believe the Four Divine Beast Sovereign Gods were not spectating.
Hell, Blood Peak Continent.
You Lan Prefecture, Tianji Mountain Range.
"Lota!"
A furious roar rang out from Tianji Mountain Range, echoing across the entire Blood Peak Continent.
Countless living beings heard the voice and could not help trembling from the depths of their souls. A single thought rose in everyone's heart: an Overgod?
The countless members of the Four Divine Beast Family all fell to their knees toward the location of the family's main hall.
"It's Father."
Gaisreisen recognized his father's voice immediately, and his expression changed in shock.
For a moment, he had no idea what could have made his father so furious.
Todd had gone to the Dark God Realm, but Gaisreisen had not been overly worried. Thus, he had not connected it to that matter.
Although many clan members had left their divine clones within the family, the battle in the Dark God Realm had only just ended. How could he have received the news already?
Blood Peak Continent, Lianyun Mountain Range.
Deep within Lianyun Mountain Range lay a lake spanning a thousand li. Endless mist shrouded the lake all year round.
At the center of the lake stood a small island, covered in all kinds of beautiful flowers. Various birds lived there peacefully as well.
On the island stood a simple, conical palace.
This palace was the residence of the Blood Peak Sovereign God.
Pash naturally heard Leiding's furious roar as well. He raised his head, his expression unchanged, let out a breath, and then stopped paying attention to Leiding's situation.
It seemed the Dominator's matter was nearly complete.
Four Divine Beast Family, main hall.
Leiding's expression had turned much uglier.
He did not truly care about Todd's death, but Lota's actions had completely torn apart the pretense between them.
"Big Brother, Lota has gone too far. Even Augusta never acted like this."
The White Tiger Sovereign God also spoke. "Why not strike now?"
They had already selected clan members who cultivated the Dark Law and Light Law. However, there were not many who were even slightly outstanding and capable of reaching the High God level on their own.
The few who could were all descendants more than a hundred generations removed.
Furthermore, every clan member who cultivated the Light Law or Dark Law did not possess the purest Four Divine Beast Family bloodline. They all came from branches of the clan scattered across different places.
At most, they possessed half the Four Divine Beast Family bloodline.
Otherwise, if pure-blooded clan members had talent in the Light Law or Dark Law, they would not need to go through so much trouble.
Among so many clan members, the most important thing was their loyalty to the family.
The Vermilion Bird Sovereign God and Black Tortoise Sovereign also looked at Leiding.
The four of them had been "arrogant" for countless years, all while waiting for an opportunity like this.
Now was the best opportunity. It was even more suitable than their previous conflict with the Augusta Family. Even if they killed the Dark Overlord because of it, the Four Great Rule Rulers would have nothing to say.
To be honest, the four of them had not expected the opportunity to appear so suddenly. According to their estimates, their first battle would most likely have been against Augusta.
Moreover, Augusta had always been their first choice. After all, Augusta possessed a Supreme Artifact. The gains from killing Augusta would exceed those from killing Lota.
But Lota had appeared too abruptly along the way.
Since that was the case, they naturally did not mind obtaining the Dark High-level Overlord Spark.
The only thing they needed to consider was whether, after obtaining the Dark High-level Overlord Spark, they could escape the "covetous eyes" of the other Sovereign Gods.
Especially the Light Overlord, Augusta.
It was even possible that they would have to face an alliance between Lota and Augusta. Even if the possibility was small, they had to guard against it.
"Make preparations."
Leiding's tone was calm now, with none of his previous rage remaining.
One grandson in exchange for a High-level Sovereign Spark was well worth it. In fact, as long as they could obtain a High-level Sovereign Spark, even if the entire Four Divine Beast Family was destroyed, it would be worth it.
Hearing Leiding's words, the eyes of the other three lit up as well. After countless years, they had finally waited for this day.
Once this battle ended, the Sovereign God Agreement hanging over their heads would no longer be an insurmountable mountain.
Dark God Realm, Shadow Continent.
Dragon Soul Prefecture, outside Dragon Soul City.
Just as Christine killed Todd Leiding, countless strands of Water Element Sovereign's Might appeared out of thin air.
In the blink of an eye, a giant face dozens of meters tall appeared.
Along with the appearance of that giant face, a terrifying pressure instantly spread outward.
An Overgod had descended.
All the God level experts trembled inwardly and fell to their knees beneath that pressure.
"Greetings, Overgod."
The remaining members of the Four Divine Beast Family nearby wore expressions filled with both hatred toward Christine and excitement at seeing the family's Old Ancestor, an Overgod.
The Sovereign Gods watching from afar also paid close attention in secret. This was the most interesting development since the War of Faith.
Perhaps a battle between Sovereign Gods would break out.
If Lota truly fought the Four Divine Beasts, even the Rule Overlords would not intervene. Whether it was the cause or the level of their battle, it complied with the Sovereign God Agreement.
After Leiding's giant Overgod face formed, it looked directly at Christine. Without wasting words, a beam of light shot from its eyes.
Clearly, he intended to kill Christine first.
Or rather, to use this to provoke the conflict between himself and Lota.
They had waited far too long for this battle.
At that moment, the pure black eyes of Christine changed. Deep within her pupils, a trace of gold slowly emerged.
Her entire aura instantly underwent a peculiar transformation.
The current "Christine" faced Leiding's giant face and casually raised the divine sword in her hand. With a single slash, she actually dispersed Leiding's attack.
The God level experts watching were stunned by this sight.
A Paragon?
Christine was a Paragon High God?
Among God level experts, only Paragon High Gods could face a Projection Giant Face of an Overgod.
"Leiding, you're courting death."
"Christine" spoke, immediately recognizing the giant face's identity and directly calling him by name.
Her voice was cold, but it carried a more lofty and superior air than before.
The God level experts nearby watched the current "Christine" and unconsciously felt a palpitation from the depths of their souls. It was pressure originating from their very souls.
"Lota has arrived."
The Sovereign Gods who saw this immediately understood what had happened.
Allowing one's soul—or rather, one's will—to enter a God Angel's body was a unique ability of Light System and Darkness System Sovereign Gods.
However, not every Sovereign God knew of this. After all, this was one of the small "special secrets" of Light System and Darkness System Sovereign Gods.
Thus, some Lower Sovereign Gods revealed doubtful expressions. The Dark Overlord truly had a miraculous method.
At the scene, only Augusta and a small number of Sovereign Gods knew of this move.
Especially Augusta. Watching the astonished expressions of several Sovereign Gods, he sneered inwardly. How could you possibly imagine the special nature of God Angels?
God Angels were born when Sovereign Sparks used the Angel Rebirth Pool. The God Angels born this way possessed Angel's Hearts rather than Divine Sparks. Angel's Hearts were connected to the Rebirth Pool, and the Rebirth Pool itself was formed because of Sovereign Sparks.
Therefore, God Angels could be considered products of Sovereign Sparks. They belonged to the Sovereign Gods' "weapons" and were also their "special divine clones."
Sovereign Gods could use the bodies of God Angels at any time through a method similar to God Descent in Material Planes.
Of course, the strength of a "God Descended" angel would be limited by the strength of the God Angel's own body. Yet even if it was weak, the difference would not be too great. This was because the soul of an "Overgod God Descent" possessed Willpower Might.
Christine was a Fallen God Angel with Six Profound Mysteries Fusion. When Lota descended into Christine, he could perfectly display the strength of a Paragon.
Furthermore, if Christine's own "special strength fluctuations" were included, Lota, using Christine's body, could easily defeat other Paragon High Gods.
In other words, even if a Paragon High God provoked Lota, hiding in a Material Plane would be useless.
As long as Christine's "body" existed, Lota's control and intimidation over Material Planes surpassed that of all other Sovereign Gods.
This was also one reason Augusta felt somewhat jealous of Lota after Ofu confirmed that Christine was a Sixfold Fusion Fallen God Angel.
Fortunately, Christine had not appeared during the War of Faith. Otherwise, no one would likely have been able to compete with Lota for faith in Material Planes.
The story would be going premium after twelve noon tomorrow. First, I'd like to thank everyone for all your support—recommendations, monthly votes, tips, comments, all of it. I'm grateful for everything, and I'll remember it all.
For a writer, every single one of those makes me feel as though someone is accompanying me.
Of course, I also have to thank my editor, Liuxing, who gave me many suggestions and recommendation slots. Otherwise, I might not have been able to write so smoothly.
For the rest, let me address some of everyone's comments together.
First is the matter of updates. I admit that I do not update that much, but during the new book period, the word count is generally around four to six thousand words. Aside from a few days at the beginning when this book had fewer than three thousand words, most chapters have exceeded four thousand words. I simply do not personally like splitting chapters, so most chapters are written only after a short plot segment has been completed.
That is why there have also been chapters of five, six, seven, or eight thousand words. Yet many people see them as just one chapter and feel that one chapter a day is too little.
Maybe everyone is used to looking at chapter counts. That is my own issue.
Many people have advised me to split the chapters up before posting them, since it would make them look more numerous. I read novels too, though, and I often find short chapters unsatisfying, so when I write, I cannot be bothered to split things too finely.
At first, I even planned to update twenty thousand words immediately after going premium and finish the Four Divine Beasts arc in one go. But many people advised me to calm down, hahaha, and split it into ten chapters or something, since that would look better. The word count would not change anyway.
I'll split it up, but I'm not sure how many chapters exactly. It may not be ten chapters, but it will be twenty thousand words. After all, chapters that are too short feel terribly awkward. I completely can't get the point some profound people are making.
As for rules for bonus updates later on, there are no rules. I'm mature now, so I'll add updates on my own. Whenever I'm not busy, it will be eight thousand to ten thousand-plus words, though I may not split them into chapters then. I have terminal laziness.
Then there is the matter of plot progression, as well as the protagonist and the system.
This book was written by following the trend. Everyone can tell from the title, so there is nothing to hide. I wanted to get a share of the soup and, at the same time, regain the feeling of writing. As for the system, it was originally meant only as a trigger. Everything happening now, the root of it all, began because of the system. Without it, why would the protagonist do any of this?
Then there is the protagonist. From the beginning, I set him up as an almost invincible existence. There would not be much to write if he personally stepped in. He is a character who stands high above and looks down upon all living beings, more of an observer. I have also said before that I wanted to write about some characters from the original work that I liked and flesh out their stories.
Therefore, many plotlines will revolve around Beirut, Qinghuo, and some characters who appear later, but none of them can avoid the protagonist.
A novel has never been a stage for the protagonist alone. To me and to all of you, this is a novel, but to the characters inside it, this is a world. They have their own stories as well, so I will try to write them in greater detail. The progression may be slower because of that. It also lets me write a little more, because this book will not be very long. The more I can write, the more I will write.
Lastly, there are some settings concerning strength and the original work. These are conclusions that people in the group reached after extensive discussion, and we felt they were relatively reasonable.
I also have to thank the expert Beiner for providing all kinds of screenshots. The expert has read Reverend Insanity more than thirty times. I would not say he can recite it backward, but whenever we casually mention an issue, he can find a screenshot from the original work within two minutes. It is absurd, but true.
Being able to write this far has depended on all the discussions and support from everyone. This really is crowdfunded writing.
Therefore, even when many settings were not explicitly confirmed in the original work, they were inferred by the experts based on plot descriptions from the original work. Take the strength of Paragons, for example. Everyone knows they are powerful, but just how powerful are they? No one has a clear concept.
We can only infer it from the various descriptions in the original work.
