Background / History

Mo Fan first encounters Tang Miao after Tang Miao captures Bai Yang and destroys Black Beast Demons. The encounter shakes Mo Fan's confidence in his own standing among peers, as Tang Miao appears to be the same age while vastly stronger in direct combat 26.

At Pearl Academy's Newcomer Beast Fighting Competition, Mo Fan reveals that he is a natural Dual Element Mage and openly challenges the other departments for their resources. Tang Miao recognizes that Mo Fan's multiple elements and two Intermediate-level elements make the competition effectively his personal showcase 55.

After learning of the Totems, Mo Fan seeks to join Tang Miao and Ling Ling. Old Man Bao instead recommends him to the Qingtian Hunter Agency, noting that Mo Fan, like Tang Miao, refuses to join a faction 66. Tang Miao later warns him that the Black Vatican may target him, prompting Mo Fan to remain at Pearl Academy and cultivate for its main-campus examination 68.

Mo Fan later requests Tang Miao's assistance in Dunhuang to contract a pet, and accompanies Tang Miao, Ling Ling, Zhao Manyan, Ye Xin Xia, and Zhang Xiaohou on the expedition 125 126. Mo Fan is ambitious, combative, and highly confident in his own potential. He readily provokes powerful opponents, such as the Silver Dome Lord, and is eager to fight dangerous demons for Spirit Essences 597 661.

He is also impulsively protective. In Egypt, he volunteers to challenge the Monarch-level Dark Sword Master so Fen Na's forces can destroy the Pyramid, demanding only that his use of the Demon Element remain secret 330. His anger at Lu Yilin's betrayal is similarly intense; he attempts to kill Lu before Tang Miao and the team persuade him to seek compensation instead 264.

Despite his bravado, Mo Fan can act strategically. During the academy sparring match, he surrenders rather than expose his Shadow Element, prioritizing long-term advantage over an immediate result 78.
