Background

Bai Yu was originally a Green Lotus soul beast. She developed spiritual intelligence after only a few hundred years—an exceptionally early awakening for a soul beast—and later became Bai Yuan's first bound disciple. Before meeting him, she believed she would likely never achieve humanoid transformation and might eventually be harvested by plant-type Soul Masters 7 18 225.

As Bai Yuan's earliest disciple, Bai Yu encourages his ambition to establish a cultivation academy and comforts him when prospective disciples reject him 6. She also assumes responsibility for Wang Qiuer, teaching her basic daily-life skills and acting as her senior-sister figure 20 26.

Bai Yuan strengthens her foundation by having her endure the extreme forces of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Eyes. Bai Yu persists through the process because she trusts that her master will not harm her; the treatment, together with a Marrow Cleansing Pill, substantially improves her talent 70 87.

While secluded at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Eyes, Bai Yu disappears after the site is attacked and devastated. Bai Yuan later locates her in a stasis-like state beneath the hot spring, seated on a green lotus with two crystal beads 98 107 108.

Despite her possessiveness, she is caring toward Wang Qiuer. Bai Yu looks after her, comforts her when she is upset, and even yields her place beside Bai Yuan when Wang Qiuer asks for reassurance 26 123 147.
