A Forceful Strike

Old houses like this still retained some of Star City's rural features from years past. The main hall's front door was usually nothing more than a thin wooden plank.

Under normal circumstances, a plank like that couldn't withstand much force.

It was already strange that Jiang Yue's blade hadn't split it open.

And when such a huge stone slab slammed into it with tremendous force, it should have smashed a gaping hole through it—or even knocked the door and its frame right off.

But things didn't go as expected. The stone slab crashed into the door and shattered into dozens of pieces with a clatter. The door itself remained completely unmoved.

Good grief.

Lin Yifei was left speechless at the sight.

She'd suspected Jiang Yue was up to some trick earlier. Now she understood. It wasn't that Jiang Yue hadn't put enough force into his strike. There was something strange about this door.

Since they couldn't find a way through the main hall,

Jiang Yue gave Lin Yifei a look. They understood each other without a word, crossed the main hall and the passageway, and entered the back room.

Buildings of this old-fashioned style usually had front and back doors, with rooms on both sides.

But the giant, mutated A'Ping clearly wasn't going to stand by and watch them slip away right under her nose. She casually grabbed the Eight Immortals table in the main hall and viciously hurled it at their backs.

Fortunately, they were both fast.

They had just passed through the doorway leading from the main hall to the back room when the Eight Immortals table came hurtling after them.

Bang!

With a deafening crash, the table slammed into the doorframe and got wedged there. Wood splinters flew everywhere, and bits of stone rained down from above.
