Around the shopping mall where Jiang Yue and the others were staying, the night grew darker as time passed.

But the evil spirits and monsters everyone had been anxiously expecting never appeared. The Bizarre Tree seemed to have no plans to make a move tonight, either.

Everything was as peaceful as it had been in the Sunny Era.

If not for the city being reduced to ruins, with not a single light visible anywhere, the people in the mall might have wondered whether they had returned to the Sunny Era, and whether peace had once again been restored.

Even back in New Moon Bay a few days ago, things had never been this peaceful.

Apart from the worst few days, evil spirits and monsters had still come out to cause trouble every day in New Moon Bay. Other desperate outlaws had also tried to invade. In all this time, it had never been this quiet—almost as if they were back in the Sunny Era.

Could it be that tonight really would pass without incident?

Most people there hoped the calm would last until dawn and that this nerve-racking night would soon be over.

But Jiang Yue couldn't bring himself to feel optimistic.

This calm was abnormal.

Several times, he'd wondered if the enemy should have made its move by now.

Based on his past experience, evil spirits and monsters usually began moving as soon as darkness fell. By nine or ten at night, they would enter a period of peak activity, and around midnight that activity would turn frenzied.

Those were some of the patterns Jiang Yue had worked out after countless clashes with evil spirits and monsters.
