Heading to Yun City was undoubtedly the most difficult option at this stage.

Sending Jiang Yue—the youngest, and the one with the most combat experience—was a reasonable choice.

Jiang Yue made no demands and didn't drag his feet. He accepted the assignment readily.

That attitude alone earned the approval of both General Zeng and Deputy Governor Li.

"Little Jiang, if you have any requests, don't hesitate to ask," General Zeng said generously.

"I'll need to make a rough plan first. Then I'll have a better idea of what to ask for." There were bound to be things he needed, but with so little time, he couldn't think of everything on the spot.

General Zeng smiled. "No rush. Take your time to think it over. We'll give you time to prepare. But the situation in Yun City is urgent, so the sooner you can set out, the better."

"Understood." Jiang Yue answered crisply, without wasting words.

General Zeng continued tapping at the map, then circled several cities in red.

"These are all major cities that the Bizarre Tree will have to pass through as it expands. They're vital strongholds that humanity must defend. Of the six executive directors, Jiang Yue has already been sent to Yun City. The five of you will take up positions in these other key cities in turn. You may not be on the front line for now, but you mustn't let your guard down. Your responsibility isn't limited to defending against the Bizarre Tree. You must also carry out the Scorched Earth strategy. Use the cities you're stationed in as bases, and extend your operations into the surrounding areas. The armed forces stationed in each city will support you. This operation must leave no blind spots and give the Bizarre Tree no chance to break through.
