"Not a Poison System Soul Master, yet they insist on squeezing into the Poison System Mimicry Training Ground? Are they sick in the head?"
Thinking of the days when his cultivation had gone wrong and he had lain in bed drinking medicinal soup, Chen Ming's mind went blank. He could not understand how anyone at Heaven Dou Royal Academy could be so eager to court death.
A Poison System Soul Master's Mimicry Training Ground could genuinely kill people. After all, the cave at his home, filled with Bilin Seven Absolute Flowers, had already poisoned more than ten ancestors to death.
If he had not been a Poison System Soul Master in this life, and if he did not need to cultivate in the Poison System Mimicry Training Ground to achieve the fastest cultivation speed, he would never have willingly crawled into a place so dark and filled with poison.
Staying in a place like that for too long could truly harm one's physical and mental health.
"Sick? Their brains are sharp enough. If there weren't benefits to be had, why would those people possibly come crawling in here?"
Niu Dali curled his lip and spoke meaningfully.
"Benefits?" Chen Ming immediately thought of the Bilin Seven Absolute Flowers hidden at his home, then shook his head. A moment later, he had more or less guessed what those people were after.
He was three years older than Tang San, and he had enrolled this year at the age of eleven. Dugu Yan was seven years older than Tang San and four years older than himself, meaning she was around fifteen now.
He himself had enrolled a year early. As for Dugu Yan, with Dugu Bo, the Poison Douluo, behind her, it was normal for her to enroll late because she had been studying her family's teachings. She had probably either just enrolled or had been here for about a year.
Could those people's target be Dugu Yan?
Chen Ming had some thoughts, but he did not voice them. Instead, he looked toward Qin Ming beside him.
Hearing Niu Dali's words, Qin Ming slowly sighed and nodded helplessly at Chen Ming.
"A new student enrolled alongside you this year. She is Dugu Yan, the Poison Douluo's only granddaughter. She is fifteen this year and a rank-twenty-nine Soul Grandmaster. Since she is about to break through to rank thirty, she has been coming to the Mimicry Training Ground every day lately."
"That's right." Niu Dali, who looked remarkably like a certain basketball star, nodded in agreement.
"Because of her status, some fools—or people with other motives—keep coming to this Mimicry Training Ground. It annoys both her and me."
"This Mimicry Training Ground raises some low-age poison-attribute Soul Beasts, and it also contains a great deal of poison. To prevent poison-attribute Soul Beasts from escaping or people from entering by mistake, I was ordered by the three Education Committee Members to guard this place."
"Oh, right." At this point, Niu Dali suddenly paused, having realized that he seemed not to have introduced himself yet.
"My name is Niu Dali. I am a Heaven Dou Academy Tianzhi-class teacher. My Martial Soul is the Black Mamba, and I am a rank-fifty-eight Assault System Soul King."
"Since I am a poison-attribute Soul Master myself, this is an excellent cultivation site for me. So I am stationed here year-round, and I am basically responsible for everything in the training ground."
"Though most of the time, there isn't much to do." As Niu Dali said this, his voice unconsciously dropped a little.
It was a job with plenty of money and little work. All he had to do here was bury himself in cultivation. He did not need to worry about food, clothing, lodging, or travel. If he lacked any materials, he only needed to report it and they would be issued to him. And when the time came, someone would pay him.
Though he knew these were a teacher's benefits, he still felt somewhat guilty about it.
"Kid, what's your name? What's your Martial Soul?"
Having said that, Niu Dali finally remembered his duties. He pulled out paper and a pen for registration from who knew where and began questioning Chen Ming.
"Teacher Niu, my name is Chen Ming. I am eleven this year. My Martial Soul is the Jade Scorpion King, and I am a rank-twenty-three Control System Soul Grandmaster. Please take care of me in the future."
"Chen Ming..." Niu Dali nodded, put the paper and pen back into his Storage Soul Tool, then pulled out a stack of files and examined them under the speechless gazes of the two others.
The files contained Chen Ming's detailed information and photograph. They had clearly come from the Education Committee Members—a copy of student records that had been approved and entered into the archives. A single look was enough to learn everything one needed to know.
"Yes, it's you. The information was delivered in the middle of last night, and I nearly forgot. I've only had it for a few hours, yet you're already here. Not bad. You're quite diligent. This is how a Soul Master ought to be."
Just as Niu Dali was awkwardly explaining himself, the sound of a bell suddenly rang out from outside the cave. Upon hearing it, Niu Dali instinctively wanted to rush out, but before releasing his Soul Power, he remembered that there were other people beside him. He halted, then slowly walked outside.
Looking through the cave entrance, Chen Ming saw a young Soul Master with one white and one yellow Soul Ring around him.
The young Soul Master had a rosy complexion, clear eyes, and an innocent smile on his lips. A pair of pure white ears resembling those of a feline Martial Soul stood atop his head.
"This is Zhenzhu. His Martial Soul is the Snow Leopard. He is our academy's Meal Delivery Soul Master, responsible for delivering meals every day to Soul Masters and teachers stationed in all sorts of remote locations."
"Hello, Teacher Qin. Hello, new student." Seeing Qin Ming and the others emerge with Niu Dali, the Soul Master named Zhenzhu showed no curiosity about why they were here. He simply waved and greeted them.
"Good morning, Zhenzhu."
"Zhen... good morning."
Though Zhenzhu's smile was innocent and flawless, and his eyes held a beauty untouched by worldly corruption, looking at him still made Chen Ming instinctively associate him with someone from his previous life.
"Teacher Niu, your three meals for this morning have arrived. Should I also prepare breakfast for Teacher Qin and this new student? If so, would it be one portion each, or three portions each?"
"One portion each for them is enough." In this world, being able to eat a lot had never been anything worth noticing. After asking Qin Ming with his eyes, Niu Dali chose one portion for each of them.
Keeping his smile, Zhenzhu touched his bracelet, and a huge lunchbox appeared in his hands. After setting it on the ground and repeating the action four more times, Zhenzhu finally stopped.
"Is there anything else you need?"
"My watermelon and fried chicken, too." Niu Dali sighed helplessly, rubbing his forehead.
He liked watermelon and fried chicken, and they were practically indispensable at every meal. Yet Zhenzhu, the meal delivery man, always forgot about them.
If he did not know that Zhenzhu had simply been born a little slow in the head and was not deliberately messing with him, he would have wanted to jab him hard with his elbow and make him think about who had given birth to him.
"Sorry, I forgot." Zhenzhu gave an innocent smile and took another huge square box from his Storage Soul Tool, placing it on the ground.
"Is there anything else you need?"
"No."
"Then I'll be going."
After confirming that he had not forgotten anything this time, Zhenzhu waved, turned around, and made his two Soul Rings flash. He transformed into an afterimage and dashed off into the distance.
