Though they were temporarily out of danger, the mood in the group was clearly worse than before. Exhausted, all the players watched one another warily. After all, at least ten players had died inexplicably during their earlier escape.
Xu Huo walked over to the train operator and, after greeting him, asked, "Is there any significance to day and night here?"
"It's much the same. If there's something wrong with the space, it'll be different whether it's day or night. The only difference is that during the day, you'll at least know how you died." The train operator spoke nonchalantly. "But if we stay somewhere bright, the Rail Supply Department is less likely to miss us."
The staff member who had taken their meal orders added, "Spaces with a normal day-night cycle are relatively stable."
In other words, even on the tracks, the day-night cycle was a recognized order.
Xu Huo sat down nearby. Before long, Yan Jiayu came over too. She generously shared her food with the staff. Most of them accepted, but the train operator said, "The rescue team hasn't arrived yet. You're willing to share your food with other people?"
"Didn't you say they'd be here soon?" Yan Jiayu said matter-of-factly. "The past couple of days were an exception. That doesn't count. There shouldn't be any more problems from here on. Besides, if the rescue team takes too long to arrive, I think something worse than a food shortage is bound to happen."
She wasn't wrong. A strange atmosphere was already brewing among the players.
Neither of them went back. Before long, the old man and the others moved over as well. Their group was large, drawing wary looks from quite a few people.
