Background and History
Brother Snake appears in Ye Qiu’s mind after the Dragon Pattern Jade Pendant—an heirloom from Ye Qiu’s mother—is destroyed. He says they are bound together and offers strength in exchange for nourishment, particularly high-grade Demon Beast Spirits. He also resents having been stripped of his former dragon body, hide, sinews, and bones 2 327.
Their arrangement begins cautiously: Brother Snake’s Dragon Qi greatly increases Ye Qiu’s strength, but nearly overwhelms his body. Ye Qiu agrees to find him nourishment so long as Brother Snake is not plotting against him. Over time, Ye Qiu supplies Demon Beast Spirits and other resources, while Brother Snake provides techniques, cultivation advice, and protection 2 24 83 85.
Brother Snake knows more about Ye Qiu’s bloodline and the dangers surrounding him than he readily explains. He identifies Ye Qiu as the generation’s Person of Calamity and warns that later bloodline awakenings will attract greater threats. Brother Snake is blunt, proud, and voracious. He mocks Ye Qiu’s mistakes, bargains over instruction, and eagerly consumes Demon Beast Spirits, blood essence, and other rare resources. He often withholds an answer until Ye Qiu works it out himself—or asks persuasively enough 5 85 100 517.
His complaints do not prevent him from helping Ye Qiu in danger. He warns him against taking on another person’s tribulation, yet supplies Dragon Blood when Ye Qiu enters Yuan Gang’s lightning field. Later, despite the cost of his precious Essence Blood, he remains invested in Ye Qiu’s growth 135 566. He also urges Ye Qiu not to forget his original purpose or “grow crooked” 5 350.
