Background / History

Ye Chuxue was an Inner Sect disciple of Azure Cloud Sect, publicly regarded as an untouchable senior sister. Privately, she used Extreme Yin Power on the Back Mountain during Full Moon Nights to heal her injuries, where Su Ming discovered her secret. At this point, her cultivation and identity caused others to associate her with the Devilish Dao. 5 13

Before her Foundation Establishment breakthrough, she was an Outer Sect disciple at Qi Refining Great Perfection. Su Ming’s investigation in a simulation established that she did not yet understand the term “Awakened One,” distinguishing her later inherited knowledge from an Awakening during Qi Refining. 15

She possesses the Taiyin Body, later identified as the Taiyin Sacred Body. Upon breaking through to Foundation Establishment, her physique Awakened, allowing her to suppress a Sinister Worm with Taiyin Power. The Awakening also granted her memories from a previous Taiyin Body bearer, including knowledge of the Sinister Worms and their threat to humanity. 7 15

Ye Chuxue became an early guide to the cultivation world’s hidden dangers. She explained that ancient ruins in the Sky Abyss retained uncontaminated spiritual energy capable of suppressing Sinister Worms, and warned Su Ming that his poor talent would prevent him from sensing the parasite during Foundation Establishment. Her knowledge was not complete, however: Su Ming later established that avoiding Foundation Establishment Pills did not prevent a Sinister Worm from appearing during a breakthrough. 7 15

After learning the truth of the Canglan Realm, Ye Chuxue became one of Su Ming’s most dependable companions. She sought out suspected Awakened Ones, rescued Lin Qi from Qin Kingdom with Su Ming, endured persecution from the sects, and continued cultivating alongside the human resistance. 13 17 23

Her early experiences differ across Su Ming’s simulations. In one route, she and Su Ming used disguises to infiltrate the Wind Thunder Sect and Myriad Devil Sect, with Ye Chuxue collecting resources while he killed parasitized disciples; their subsequent attack on Azure Cloud Sect led to exposed identities and a ten-million-spirit-stone bounty. In another simulation, the apparent Ye Chuxue on the remote island killed Su Ming by piercing his chest, but this did not establish corruption in her main-timeline identity. Su Ming’s later True Sight examination found her to be an uncorrupted human. 16 22 34

In the main timeline, Su Ming took her away from Azure Cloud Sect to Desolate Village and supplied resources so that she could reach Foundation Establishment and learn the truth. During the Heavenly Emperor’s trials, Ye Chuxue alone passed the ninth level and encountered the young Heavenly Emperor, who recognized a familiar aura within her and granted her an opportunity. The Heavenly Emperor’s recognition of the Taiyin Lord, rather than merely completion of the nine trial floors, explained why Ye Chuxue received this unique reward. Her body is linked to the ancient consciousness known as the Taiyin Lord. This influence repeatedly manifests through her increasingly cold demeanor, unexplained surges of power, and occasional interventions that protect her and her allies.
