Background / History

Gustav is the organization’s second-in-command and Jili’s most trusted subordinate. He is renowned as the strongest existence beneath the Leader, with combat power stated to exceed that of the other high-ranking members. Unlike them, he possesses no Supernatural Ability; his strength comes entirely from repeatedly surpassing the limits of a mortal body through training. 8 172 176

At some point before Sakura Dance’s birth, Gustav met Urahara Mai Ryu. Though he rejected intimacy, he accepted her proposal to create a “perfect warrior” through inter-species hybridization, supplying genetic material on the condition that he could see the resulting warrior. Sakura Dance is their biological daughter. 611

Gustav personally led operations at Crystal Island when the World Crystal Tree suppressed Supernatural Abilities. His purely physical power allowed him to fight unhindered, drawing the World Crystal Tree and crystal giants’ attention while others pursued the Crystal Realm Fruits. 174 176 177

Gustav confronts Sakura Dance in the Business Capital after revealing their biological connection. He defeats her repeatedly through afterimages, intent interception, and direct physical force, receiving his first injury in thousands of years when she finally lands an effective hit. 611 618 624
