The Clingy Ciri

Downtown Gotham.

Li Ang walked down the street, holding Ciri's hand.

Kara had walked with them for a while, then gone to school on her own.

With Kara gone, Ciri naturally reached over and took Li Ang's hand.

After spending two days together, Li Ang had gotten a feel for Ciri's personality.

Having grown up without much parental affection, Ciri was a little short-tempered. And since her grandmother had raised her, she was also upright and frank.

That was exactly why Ciri was a little clingy and prone to tears.

But she also had a kind of pride other children lacked!

She was the Lion Cub of Cintra!

Ciri was much clingier than Kara. As Kara got older, she never held Li Ang's hand in public, but Ciri didn't care.

Besides, she was afraid Li Ang would abandon her, so naturally she held on tight.

"What's that?"

Kara spotted a very tall building. Even when she looked up, she couldn't see the top.

There was a W logo on it.

"That's the headquarters of Wayne Enterprises."

Li Ang helped her learn more about Gotham.

"Wayne Enterprises? Is that the one Kara mentioned earlier?"

"Yes."

"Wow."

Ciri marveled, "The Wayne Family must be this world's nobility. Cintra's nobles don't compare."

"More or less."

Li Ang smiled.

It was already the twenty-first century, yet the world still had a hierarchy of status. How ironic.

"Little one, the Wayne Family aren't good people."

A slightly husky voice sounded beside them.

Li Ang and Ciri immediately turned to look. A red-haired woman was watching them from atop a high-end motorcycle.

Kate Kane gave Li Ang an amused look, then turned her gaze to Ciri and frowned.

Why doesn't she look like she did in the photo?

Her hair was blond. How did it turn silver?

And her accent was a little strange. She knew some simple words, but her accent wasn't natural at all.

"Li Ang. And you are?"

Li Ang asked.

"Kate Kane. Is this your daughter?"

Kate Kane looked at Ciri.

"My goddaughter, Ciri."

Li Ang nodded. Ciri looked at her without a hint of fear, seeming rather proud of herself.

Li Ang couldn't be bothered to comment on Kate's outfit.

She was wearing a Motorcycle Suit, completely different from last night...

But that red hair was far too conspicuous.

Even if she wore a mask, there was no point unless she covered up such an obvious feature.

Still, Kate did have a great figure. He hadn't been mistaken.

A red-haired bombshell!

Kate wanted to ask what was going on, but it didn't feel right to be blunt, so she just smiled and said, "Little one, would you like to go inside and have a look?"

"Can I, Godfather?"

Once she understood, Ciri immediately perked up, but she still looked to Li Ang obediently.

At least the child wasn't rebellious.

Li Ang nodded. "I haven't seen it either, so since Miss Kate invited us, let's take a look."

"There's not much to see. The Wayne Family took over our family's property."

Kate Kane seemed to deeply resent the Wayne Family.

That was only natural.

After all, the two families had merged their businesses, but the company still operated under the Wayne Family name. The Kane Family had even lost its name, so it was no surprise she was unhappy.

As she spoke, Kate Kane parked her motorcycle and led the two of them inside.

She glanced at Ciri and teased, "You're already this big, and you're still clinging to your Godfather?"

At that, Ciri didn't let go. Instead, she gripped his hand tighter. "Kara told me to stay close to my Godfather, so I'm going to listen to her."

"Kara?"

That was more like it.

Kate asked, keeping her expression neutral, "Who's that?"

"My big sister."

Ciri lifted her chin, looking very pleased with herself.

With Kara as her big sister, and someone so powerful at that, if Ciri could return to Cintra, she'd surely crush all the enemy troops!

The night before, Ciri had even dreamed of Cintra. She wanted nothing more than to fight her way back.

She was short-tempered and only cared about getting revenge.

"Where's your sister?"

Kate showed them around Wayne Enterprises. The company had many departments, but apart from being tall and spacious, there wasn't much to see.

But Ciri was fascinated by it anyway.

There had never been such a tall building in Cintra. After riding the elevator up, just standing by the window made her knees go weak.

"She went to school."

"Then why aren't you going?"

"I want to go too, but my Godfather won't let me."

Ciri spoke, looking ready to cry again.

Li Ang was at his wit's end.

But he could only accept it; there was no way he could explain the reason to Kate.

Besides, he'd noticed that Ciri really was extraordinarily gifted. She could already hold a simple conversation, and perhaps that was the power of Elder Blood.

Anyone with enough influence could find out Kara's identity, so Li Ang hadn't tried to stop them. Kate had probably already looked into it.

But he wouldn't tell her anything more.

Kate hadn't expected Ciri to nearly burst into tears so quickly, and immediately shot Li Ang a glare.

Li Ang had been blamed for nothing, so he hurried to comfort her.

"Didn't we agree I'd send you to school soon?"

Li Ang stroked Ciri's head.

Kate went straight to the point. "Ciri, if your Godfather won't arrange it, I will. I guarantee you'll be studying with Kara."

Hearing that, Ciri lit up. "Thank you, big sister!"

Her voice was sweet as honey, and she even shot Li Ang a smug look.

Li Ang wasn't about to refuse. He'd be glad to have someone else handle it.

Kate was about to make a call, but Li Ang stopped her. "I still need to take Ciri to the police station and get her registered. She lost her previous ID card."

Kate asked Li Ang for his number.

Li Ang took Ciri to the Gotham Police Department.

"Who's this?"

Then she noticed Ciri beside Li Ang. "Where's Kara?"

"Kara went to school. This is Ciri, my other goddaughter."

Li Ang introduced her at once. Ciri played along, giving her a sweet smile.

As long as she wasn't frowning, Ciri was quite pretty.

And perhaps thanks to the Queen's bloodline, she had an air of vigor about her.

She wasn't a delicate girl, but a tough girl who could become a Witcher.

But Li Ang definitely wasn't going to let her become some kind of Witcher.

Even a random expert could teach her better than a Witcher could.

"We're here to see Commissioner Gordon."

"The commissioner's inside. I'll go get him for you."
