Background / History

Tsunade is the sole remaining member of the Senju Clan, whose ancestral grounds have largely fallen into ruin following the clan's integration into Konoha. She is Hashirama Senju's granddaughter and Tobirama Senju's grandniece. 30 65

After traveling outside Konoha with Shizune for two years, Tsunade returns when Hiruzen Sarutobi summons her to examine Kakashi. Her return is also motivated by a substantial payment and the need to evade gambling debts. 30

Because of her standing in the Land of Fire and friendship with the Daimyo's wife, Shijimi, Hiruzen assigns her to lead Shinji, Kurenai, and Asuma on an escort mission to the capital. She accepts after negotiating an additional two million ryo. 44
