The moment she got into the carriage, Fern couldn't help gasping in amazement. Her face and eyes were full of wonder.
"Lady Frieren!"
"This carriage is incredible!"
"I've never ridden in such a luxurious carriage before!"
That was because, once Fern stepped inside, she found the carriage was even more luxurious than it had looked from the outside!
Its body was extravagantly inlaid with glittering gems and gold, shining with a captivating brilliance in the sunlight. The golden ornaments on the ceiling and the colorful tortoiseshell decorations were like a flowing river of stars. Everywhere she looked, the carriage exuded an air of nobility and extravagance.
Thick, fluffy cushions covered the soft seats. She had no idea what kind of fur they were made of, but sitting down felt like sinking into a soft bed.
No—this was even softer than a bed at an inn!
Fern, ever observant, also noticed that the carriage walls were carved with all kinds of exquisite scenes. Each one was different, as though they were displaying a collection of mythological tales.
A delicate little table had been fixed inside the carriage, laden with all kinds of delicious pastries and fruit. This was the first time she had ever realized that a journey by carriage could be like this.
Perhaps because of the carriage's furnishings and decorations, the interior didn't feel cramped at all. Instead, it was cozy and relaxing.
Especially when the gauzy curtains on either side of the carriage fluttered lightly in the breeze, allowing those inside to see the scenery outside clearly. Fern had never experienced that kind of comfort or pleasure before, crammed into those narrow, bumpy carriages with their bare wooden interiors, whether open or fully enclosed.
