It was already very late at night in Bilgewater Bay...
Sometimes, other people's stories weren't nearly as interesting as the things that happened to you or the encounters you had yourself?
So,
After hearing all the tales and legends about this place that she found interesting, Annie had cheerfully said goodbye to the fake old witch who had "cheated" her out of more than a dozen gold coins and was smugly pleased with herself. Then she left the tavern, where fewer and fewer people remained, and wandered alone onto Bilgewater's foul-smelling, pitch-black street, where there was hardly any light. She kept walking until she reached the city's iconic landmark, the "Slaughter Docks," and stood on it to admire the night view.
Calling this place the "Slaughter Docks" seemed less apt than calling it a giant stone bridge?
But actually, it hadn't been a bridge at all at first. It was simply a long, suspended stone path linking two towering mountains, formed by an eroded stone arch. It had been left behind by a combination of chance, the long erosion of the seawater, the falling sea level, and the gradual rising of the land in the Serpent Isles!
Bilgewater...
Many years ago, when pirates and outsiders from elsewhere came to the Serpent Isles and were allowed to land and build a city here, Bilgewater—the free port—had gradually taken shape... And so the natural stone path atop the giant arch between the two mountain islands, a crucial route for travel, was gradually transformed into the magnificent street and bridge it was today!
People walking along it could look down on the beautiful views on either side of Bilgewater Bay. They could also make their way to the bustling docks or the complicated Lower City, teeming with all kinds of people.
Of course,
