After Patri Vic finished his fight with Roger, the group returned together to the tavern.
Only the stunned residents of Sabaody Archipelago remained where they were.
Though they weren't strong, they had some common sense.
On the seas, people had always known that a person could only eat one Devil Fruit.
But a Rocks Pirates officer, Patri Vic, had eaten four!
Looking at the still-burning sea of fire, the towering stone walls, the shattered wooden dragon on the ground, and the Purple Steam Patri Vic had already withdrawn—
Scene after scene slammed into their minds, leaving them unable to calm down for a long time.
Especially the man from the News Coo agency. Working there meant he was a well-traveled journalist.
But even he couldn't hold back his shock. Without hesitation, he quickly dialed his transponder snail.
He reported everything he had seen and heard that day.
Within a few days, this world-shaking news would spread across the entire world.
And Patri Vic's reputation would echo across the seas.
Patri Vic and the others sat back down in the same tavern. When the owner saw them, He broke out in a cold sweat and immediately ran out.
"Am I really that scary?"
Patri Vic watched the owner's retreating back and couldn't help but complain.
"Your abilities scared even me, let alone others." Roger sat in his chair, laughing.
Roger took a deep breath and began studying Patri Vic seriously. He couldn't imagine how one person could eat four Devil Fruits.
In the first half of the Grand Line, he had personally witnessed a man who tried to eat two Devil Fruits explode on the spot.
Each Devil Fruit contained a demon, and only one demon could reside inside a person's body.
As the saying goes, one mountain cannot hold two tigers. So eating two Devil Fruits would cause the demons inside to clash, killing the eater.
But Patri Vic had eaten four Devil Fruits, not only surviving but also using all their abilities flexibly.
No matter how he thought about it, it seemed utterly unbelievable.
"Why are you staring at me?"
Patri Vic opened a bottle of fine wine and took a long drink.
"Is it your constitution? Did you uncover the secret of Devil Fruits? Or... are you not even human?" Roger pondered for a long time, coming up with only these possibilities.
Any one of them would shake the entire world.
"Guess?" Patri Vic said calmly.
Because none of the three reasons Roger mentioned were correct. He was just a little "special," that's all.
"Alright."
Roger knew when to back off. Since Patri Vic didn't want to reveal much, he wouldn't pry.
"What's the Rocks Pirates like?" Gaban asked curiously from the side.
Having seen the Rocks Pirates' deeds in the news many times, he was a bit curious about them.
Of course, it was just curiosity. He wouldn't choose to join—he was already part of the Roger Pirates.
"A group gathered for profit. The crew and officers do everything for money. But Rocks... his goal was much grander." Patri Vic thought seriously for a moment before replying.
Rocks fell at God Valley. As for what exactly he went there to do, Patri Vic didn't know. But without a doubt, He was trying to pull off something earth-shattering. In the end, he failed.
Even after the Rocks Pirates disbanded, the remaining officers still rose to power, eventually forming terrifying forces.
Three Emperors, one legendary pirate, and several major pirates—all came from his ship.
If all the Rocks Pirates' crew had fought with everything they had at God Valley, even with the Marines and Roger joining forces, victory might not have been guaranteed.
But even now, the Rocks Pirates' officers were already divided, let alone in the future battle at God Valley.
By then, Rocks would likely be nothing more than a captain in name, with only a few truly following his orders.
"What was your purpose in joining the Rocks Pirates? Was it for money too?" Roger took a sip of wine and asked with interest.
"Money? That's far too vulgar." Patri Vic smiled faintly in reply.
Patri Vic had no ambition. He didn't want to form his own crew, nor did he have Whitebeard's kindness to help his hometown.
So he didn't care about money at all.
"You just saw it as a place to stay?" Roger chuckled.
"Something like that. The Rocks Pirates often run into strong opponents on the seas—it's a good training ground." Patri Vic said casually.
"If you ever leave the Rocks Pirates, remember to consider my crew, Vic." Roger said bluntly.
"Are you dreaming, Roger?" Patri Vic teased.
Although Patri Vic had quite a few abilities at his disposal, the battle today hadn't actually been decided.
"Hahaha." Roger burst out laughing.
The two hadn't settled the fight, but Roger's call to stop counted as his concession.
"Roger, when are you planning to head to the New World?" Whitebeard interjected from the side.
"Right, Captain, I was just about to discuss that with you." Rayleigh suddenly spoke with a grave expression.
"I know what you want to say."
Roger sighed. Then he took a gulp of fine wine, wiped the foam from his lips, and looked seriously at Whitebeard. "We'll go once we've gotten a bit stronger. The New World is still full of danger for us right now."
"Gurarara... I look forward to meeting you in the New World, Roger. When that time comes, we'll be crossing swords."
Though they'd cross swords, Whitebeard certainly wouldn't kill Roger.
Whitebeard and Roger had only known each other for a single day.
But the bond formed in that day surpassed years of camaraderie with the officers of the Rocks Pirates.
Whitebeard was too disappointed in the Rocks Pirates' officers—there wasn't a shred of true friendship among them.
So after meeting Roger, Whitebeard found him fascinating and worth befriending deeply.
"Then I'll definitely run away." Roger laughed heartily.
The group chatted cheerfully, sharing a sense of regret at not meeting sooner, and drank well into the night.
By then, even Whitebeard and Patri Vic, both fond of drinking, were thoroughly tipsy.
Without a care, they sprawled across the table and dozed off.
"Sigh..." Rayleigh and Gaban let out helpless sighs.
