"Interesting. Truly interesting."
A dreamy gleam appeared in Lu Wu's clear blue eyes. He had just sensed that someone would become entangled with him. After making a calculation on his claws, he found that the humans were gathering to discuss investigating the Star Dou Great Forest.
Lu Wu stretched lazily and gave the trembling ball of light beside him a harmless smile.
"I'll be leaving first. I'll come back here to cultivate after a while."
It had to be said that cultivating here was indeed far more efficient than at the Lake of Life, though it lacked the rich aura of life found there.
Before the Plane Consciousness could rejoice, it learned that the demon who had tortured it would be returning. Its remaining days instantly seemed joyless.
"Very well. Take care, and you're welcome to visit again."
The Plane Consciousness tried its best to put on a sorrowful, regretful expression. In truth, knowing that Lu Wu would return genuinely pained it.
Lu Wu took small steps forward, walking out of this space one step at a time before vanishing from the Plane Consciousness's sight.
"That demon finally left! I'm finally free!"
The ball of light bounced up and down, flying recklessly through the space. As for him coming back next time, that was a problem for its future self. Right now, it only wanted to savor the taste of freedom and run wild in this space without Lu Wu.
"Who's the demon?"
Lu Wu's figure suddenly reappeared before the Plane Consciousness. His words made the rapidly flying ball of light stop with lightning speed. It guiltily drifted over to Lu Wu and said,
"What demon? You heard wrong. I said I'm hungry. Hungry."
The Plane Consciousness spoke with a fawning tone. Why had this guy suddenly come back? And why did he have to catch it at exactly that moment? It had been too careless.
"Is that so? Since you're hungry, then as your beloved friend and sworn brother, I'll treat you to your favorite slap."
Lu Wu lightly extended a claw. Nine-Colored Power gathered in the air into an enormous claw and smacked the ball of light squarely from the side. The ball immediately began spinning rapidly like a top.
Lu Wu had sensed someone speaking ill of him, so he directly crossed space and followed the karmic thread to the culprit. It turned out to be the Plane Consciousness, his little brother.
Since it claimed to be so hungry, Lu Wu naturally could not let his little brother go starving. He promptly rewarded the Plane Consciousness with a slap.
"You should be full now, right?"
Lu Wu watched the Plane Consciousness, which was still spinning without pause, with a faintly amused smile.
"Full~ I'm full~"
The Plane Consciousness felt awful. It did not know what method Lu Wu had used, but its body still hurt, and it was now dizzy enough to feel like throwing up, though it had no idea what it could possibly vomit.
Lu Wu ignored the Plane Consciousness after that. A small punishment was enough. It would only have to spin for two and a half days.
After returning to the Lake of Life, the first thing Lu Wu saw was Di Tian, whose body radiated a dense aura of death. His whole aesthetic clashed far too much with the Lake of Life, and Di Tian was already considering whether he should find another place to live.
"Lu Master."
Upon seeing Lu Wu return, the demons respectfully bowed to him.
"Not bad."
Lu Wu already knew that they had completely mastered their newly acquired abilities. Some, such as Gu Yuena, had even learned several new techniques contained within the cultivation method.
"Next, the humans will send people to investigate the situation in the Star Dou Great Forest. As the masters of the Star Dou Great Forest, we should naturally give our guests a proper 'welcome.'"
At Lu Wu's words, savage smiles appeared on the demons' faces. They had long been displeased with those humans. After all, Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beasts were hunted down every so often, and they could not help feeling sorrow for their own kind.
Previously, they had merely been waiting for their lord to recover from his injuries. Now that their lord had recultivated and they had transformed into demons, it was time to let humanity see their strength.
"We obey Lu Master's command."
The demons answered in unison.
"But Lu Master, how should we divide the opponents when the time comes?"
Xiong Jun scratched his head and smiled honestly. The humans they sent would certainly vary in strength. He, Xiong Jun, only wanted to fight the strong ones.
Lu Wu did not answer. Instead, a pile of objects suddenly appeared before him, each engraved with strange and bizarre symbols.
"These are Magic Treasures I casually refined. One for each of you. Choose one that suits you. They can help you comprehend laws and assist you in battle."
"The Demon Race has only just been established, so I'll give each of you one for free this time. If you want more good things afterward, you'll have to exchange Merit Points for them. I'll introduce a Merit Points exchange system then. If you want greater power, you'll have to work harder to earn Merit Points."
Lu Wu grinned. He was no great philanthropist. The things he gave them were insignificant to him, which was why he could offer them for free at first. He had to raise the leeks before harvesting them.
Still, any force needed a proper advancement path and a strong system. That was why Lu Wu was beginning to experiment with one now.
After all, he had never paid attention to how major powers should be managed in the past. Now, he only had what he had absorbed from Di Jun and Taiyi.
Di Tian listened to Lu Wu's words thoughtfully. Among the demons here, he was the only one who had seen the world. The others had all been homebody Soul Beasts before, while his own lord possessed only fragments of his memories. Only Di Tian had spent time in human society during his long life.
It was obvious that Di Tian had already understood that Lu Wu intended to establish a society—a civilization.
The former Soul Beast race had been little more than a race. There were too few intelligent beings, and not even the most basic system had been established. Anything they wanted had to be taken by force.
The Magic Treasures floated before the demons one by one. As they looked at the treasures emitting terrifying fluctuations, their mouths went dry.
"Thank you, Lu Master, for your gift."
"Alright, you've received the items. Fight well in the coming battle. Whoever moves fastest gets to choose their opponent."
"These are only the vanguard, sent by the various factions to investigate the situation. There's no need to go too far. Leave one or two alive to go back and report."
Lu Wu tilted his head slightly, thinking about whether he had missed any arrangements. Finding nothing lacking, he stretched out a claw toward the Three-Eyed Golden Lion.
"Come over and keep being my mount. When the time comes, I'll lie on your back and the two of us can watch the show from the side."
The Three-Eyed Golden Lion's eyes lit up. She did not particularly enjoy fighting, since it would dirty her beautiful fur. With Lu Wu accompanying her now, she would not need to act cute and beg to stay out of it.
Lu Wu paid no attention to the strange looks from the demons. He instantly appeared atop the Three-Eyed Golden Lion and lay down to sleep again. Cultivating had suddenly become so tiring. Lu Wu subconsciously ignored the problem and began replenishing his energy.
As Di Tian watched the daughter he had raised for over ten thousand years obediently lie beneath Lu Wu, afraid of waking him, he suddenly did not know what to feel.
"Ten Thousand Demons King, you will monitor the humans' movements from now on. Inform us once they enter the Star Dou Great Forest."
Gu Yuena's voice rang out. Though she had yet to recover to her peak, she still wanted to see what methods humanity possessed now.
"As you command, my lord."
Ten Thousand Demons King slowly raised his head, and it seemed as if flames were burning in his eyes.
