Countless Soul Beasts that had long since died let out roars once more, their ghostly eyes fixed on the Evil Soul Masters at the center of the domain before launching a death charge in their direction.
"These damn Soul Beasts, they can't even rest in peace after dying."
The Evil Soul Masters betrayed by their own wraiths cursed incessantly. Their bodies trembled as they looked at the encirclement closing in from every direction. They had killed many ten-thousand-year Soul Beasts, but they had mostly killed them one at a time. When had they ever faced so many at once?
The boundless undead were wreathed in purple-black flames, forming a sea of fire as endless deathly aura crushed down upon the Evil Soul Masters.
They had always been the ones summoning hordes of undead to gang up on their enemies. Never had they experienced such a scene. At last, these Evil Soul Masters understood how their former enemies had felt before death.
"Self-destruct! Even if we die, we have to give them something big! Better to be blown to pieces than eaten by them."
Zhang Peng roared amid the thunderous stampede of countless beasts.
Seeing no hope of escape, the other Evil Soul Masters made a decisive choice to self-destruct. Above them, a colossal Death Saint Dragon casually held their Grand Elder in its claws as if grasping an earthworm, silently watching them.
A tremendous boom rang out as violent shockwaves spread in all directions. The force of the explosion crushed several nearby Soul Beasts, but shrouded in the power of death, their remaining bodies continuously repaired themselves until they returned to normal and resumed their charge.
Explosion after explosion rang out. Perhaps because they had dealt with death and evil for so long, even the residual power left behind after their explosions existed in the form of black mist.
"Petty tricks."
Di Tian watched the Soul Master in the black mist, his life-force burning, and the corners of his lips curled into a disdainful smile.
"Death."
Di Tian's voice was soft, yet it seemed to explode through heaven and earth like thunder, like a decree issued upon this place by the Heavenly Dao.
Zhang Peng was fleeing frantically, his body covered in bloody wounds inflicted by the blast force from his dear fellow cultists' self-destructions.
Naturally, Zhang Peng had no intention of waiting to die. After fooling those idiot teammates into self-destructing, he had intended to use that force to escape. Even if the hope was slim, he still gave it everything he had.
Di Tian's voice rang beside his ears, and Zhang Peng felt even his Sea of Spirit tremble. But since it was already burning, Zhang Peng did not pay much attention to it.
An indescribable sense of terror came from behind Zhang Peng. He did not dare relax his mind in the slightest, as though he would die under that command the very next second.
Zhang Peng threw out an illusory spirit body. After furthering his studies in the Holy Spirit Cult for so many years, even though his martial soul was not particularly adept in matters of the soul, Zhang Peng had still learned some methods of manipulating souls.
The one he had just thrown out was his good teammate, who had willingly self-destructed to contribute to his escape. Zhang Peng had taken the opportunity to collect his teammate's soul, and now it happened to be useful.
The command of death steadily approached. The illusory spirit body still wore an angry expression. He truly had not expected Zhang Peng, usually considered an honest man in the cult, to be such a bastard—tricking them into self-destructing while fleeing himself, then even using their souls as disposable tools.
His furious expression suddenly turned terrified. As someone skilled at toying with souls, he sensed the aura of death, as though his soul was about to perish.
The illusory spirit body was silently stained purple-black before falling into extinction.
Zhang Peng felt that the threat of death coming from behind him had not weakened in the slightest. He threw out several more of his good teammates, and those spirit bodies likewise died completely.
Zhang Peng looked at the vivid green not far away, and a yearning rose within him as he accelerated the burning of his life.
As he flew at high speed, Zhang Peng's face had already become aged and wrinkled, and his hair had begun to turn gray. Yet Zhang Peng did not dare slow the burning in the least. He wanted to live. He still wanted to keep living in this world. He had yet to avenge himself upon Shrek.
Just as Zhang Peng was about to step beyond the domain, at the boundary where black turned to green, where death and life divided, that command finally descended upon him.
Zhang Peng died.
With despair, he sank into eternal silence.
Di Tian would not allow these humans to survive in the Death Realm after their deaths. Even as punching bags for the Soul Beasts, he found them disgusting.
"Now, it's your turn."
Di Tian gave a light laugh, and the force with which his claws tore at Long Xiaoyao increased.
Long Xiaoyao forcibly endured the excruciating pain wracking his body. He likewise could see no hope of survival, unable even to return to human form.
Long Xiaoyao thought back to his confidence when he had first entered the Star Dou Great Forest, when he had even believed he could contend for the opportunity to become a god. Yet now, he was struggling for breath in Di Tian's grasp like a foul, wormlike creature. The thought was laughable.
Xi Shui, I'm sorry. I couldn't see you one last time. If there is another life, we should be able to live happily together.
A calm expression appeared on Long Xiaoyao's face. He only wanted to die quickly now, sparing himself further torment.
He had already seen things clearly. The rise of the Soul Beasts was unstoppable. Di Tian alone could kill every human Titled Douluo in a single day. He had likely already broken through that boundary. Unless someone came from the God Realm, humanity had no chance of defeating them.
Thus, Long Xiaoyao was at peace. Since he was going to die anyway, it was merely a matter of dying sooner or later. All he wanted was to live happily and peacefully with Xi Shui in the next life.
Sensing Long Xiaoyao's emotions, Di Tian found it somewhat boring. His opponent clearly no longer wished to live, and he could not be bothered to keep tormenting this human.
With a tearing sound, a pained dragon roar rang out before falling silent. The enormous dragon body turned into specks of starlight and dispersed, leaving only a human corpse severed in two to fall from the sky and crash heavily onto the ground, blossoming into a flower of blood.
Di Tian withdrew the Death Realm, transformed into human form once more, and crossed space toward Lu Wu.
"Lu Master."
Di Tian arrived beside Lu Wu and respectfully bowed, only to discover that the other Fierce Beasts had already arrived. He was actually the last one here.
"Di Tian, you're the last to arrive. Don't tell me you can't even handle a few humans anymore?"
The moment Xiong Jun saw Di Tian, his eyes lit up and a mocking smile appeared on his face. Regardless of the reason, Di Tian had arrived last.
"Enough. Those humans were merely an appetizer. Di Tian only faced a few more Soul Masters and wasted a little time."
Lu Wu sat upright and spoke slowly.
That was indeed the case. None of them had taken this matter too seriously.
Take Ten Thousand Demons King, for instance. He had been assigned two ordinary Titled Douluo from the Heavenly Soul and Dou Ling Empires. They had only been around Rank 91 or 92, unable even to defeat Ten Thousand Demons King before his transformation. Now, they had been brutally ravaged in his hands, their blood and souls drained from them alive.
The battle had only lasted a few exchanges, so naturally he had returned quickly.
"This time, those two people will return to report what happened. The human world will definitely mobilize most of its strength to attack the Star Dou Great Forest. Though you are not afraid of those high-ranked Soul Masters, the Star Dou Great Forest will still find it difficult to withstand carpet bombing."
"When the time comes, I will teach you some knowledge and assign you some homework as well. How well you complete it will determine whether the Star Dou Great Forest can avoid being damaged. The better you do, the less damage the Star Dou Great Forest will suffer."
"Also, too few Soul Beasts have developed intelligence. But you will not need to concern yourselves with that. Just watch what I do when the time comes."
The beasts silently listened to Lu Wu's orders and responded respectfully.
