The Silver Dragon King slowly closed her eyes. Countless dragons soared and danced before her—scenes Lu Wu had recorded when he followed Taiyi to the Dragon Ascension Assembly of the dragon race.
Every dragon radiated a terrifying aura that made the Silver Dragon King's mind tremble. She felt as though she were merely a crawling creature on the ground, shivering beneath the pressure of the dragons dancing in the sky.
"Are those the dragons of your world?"
The Silver Dragon King murmured, boundless passion erupting within her. This was hope—the hope of becoming the Dragon God, or even surpassing the Dragon God.
Lu Wu watched the expression on the Silver Dragon King's face with satisfaction. He had deliberately left a trace of pressure within it. It was a goal to spur the Silver Dragon King onward without pause. Though he did not know whether she would be able to keep pace with him in the future, demons should never fear the terror of life and death along the path of cultivation. That, too, was the test he had left for her.
Not knowing how long the Silver Dragon King would need to awaken from this state, Lu Wu shifted his thoughts and walked directly out of the small space where she was.
By the Lake of Life, the Fierce Beasts waited for the outcome. After all, they could not contribute anything to this matter. The scene of them being crushed into immobility by the pressure radiating from that streak of white light was still vivid in their minds.
"Senior, may I ask how our lord is doing now?"
Di Tian asked respectfully. After discussing it, they had unanimously concluded that this other party was a powerful senior from beyond their domain. Any beast their lord respected was not someone they could afford to offend.
"She's comprehending the Dao. If she comprehends it, her injuries will heal very soon."
If she failed to comprehend it, her entire dragon body would go limp.
Stepping on the slightly damp young grass and soft earth, Lu Wu answered casually before beginning to run freely across the ground.
He had not touched anything tangible for who knew how many years, and he was rather excited for a time. As for what the Fierce Beasts thought of him, at his level, he did not care in the slightest. What could be more important than being in a good mood?
"Di Tian, is this one really a senior?"
Behind Di Tian, Xiong Jun poked him with his Dark Gold Terror Claw and asked in a low voice, all while nervously staring in the direction Lu Wu had gone.
"How could—"
Before Xiong Jun could finish, a thunderous explosion suddenly rang out in the sky. Before the Fierce Beasts could react, a golden lightning serpent had already struck Xiong Jun. A strange scent of roasted meat wafted from his body.
Xiong Jun stiffened for an instant, then hurriedly begged forgiveness in Lu Wu's direction. After a while, he cautiously glanced at the sky again before finally daring to tend to his singed black fur.
Xiong Jun was reckless, but he was not stupid. Naturally, he would not continue courting death. He had been working in his den to preserve the inheritance of the Dark Gold Dreadclaw Bear clan when he was summoned back here. Yet he had only believed what he saw with his own eyes. Now that he had personally experienced it, he had not expected this senior's heart to be so "meticulous."
Lu Wu did not care about what happened to Xiong Jun after he was struck. It had only been a minor punishment. Wasn't being a demon all about freedom and doing as one pleased? If others had unfavorable thoughts about him, they had to keep them bottled up inside. Once they spoke them aloud, they had to bear the consequences.
Breathing in the fresh air and the forest's distinctive earthy smell, Lu Wu gradually came to a stop on the other side of the Lake of Life. He had not experienced anything like this in a long time. The last time had been when Taiyi took him to relax before the final Witch-Demon War. After all, having lived high above in the Heavenly Court all that time, where would there have been demons planting so many trees?
Lying down casually on the soft grass, Lu Wu sank into thought.
For the time being, Lu Wu did not intend to leave Douluo Continent. Ever since realizing that this was the Douluo Universe, he had dug up the memories of his life before his previous one and reviewed them anew.
Although Douluo Continent was known as the "gutter of fantasy," this world did possess a collective of so-called "gods" like the God Realm. That meant the laws of this world were easy to observe and understand. This was the Douluo Universe's greatest advantage.
In a world on the level of the Primordial Realm, or even one level below it, comprehending laws would be extremely difficult. The stronger a world was, the stronger its control over its own laws, and the harder those laws were to comprehend. Of course, the strength and completeness of laws differed between worlds of different levels.
After all, laws were part of the world. Comprehending laws was like stripping off someone's clothes to admire their body. Weak worlds wore very little, their clothes barely concealing them, leaving much of their laws exposed. Powerful worlds, on the other hand, were wrapped in layer after layer, making their inner workings nearly impossible to see.
Back in the Primordial Realm, Lu Wu had been born quite late, when the laws had already begun to gradually recede. His comprehension of laws had mostly relied on others' explanations and Magic Treasures—yes, he meant Donghuang Taiyi and his Eastern Emperor Bell.
Therefore, aside from his own innate talent and a very few laws, he was not particularly familiar with laws.
But the laws of the Douluo Universe were, to him now, like a woman who had already been paid and voluntarily stripped herself bare. Their quality might be poor, but they had everything. In any case, Lu Wu only needed a seed. Worlds below this level were basically worlds devoid of spiritual energy, while worlds above it did not offer the same value for the cost.
This body, formed with energy supplied by Life Gold, did not need to worry about lifespan limitations anytime soon. Furthermore, another major advantage of the Douluo Universe was the long lifespans of its living beings. Even Soul Beasts with slightly higher-grade bloodlines could live for tens of thousands of years. The Ancient Emperors from next door in Covering the Sky would be drooling with envy.
Rather than going early to another small world and having a portion of his lifespan cut away by its world laws from the start, it was better to develop steadily in the Douluo Universe and lay a foundation. After all, the people of the Primordial Realm were the best at living long lives. There was no need to worry that his enemies might already be dead. His goal was right there; he only needed to keep moving forward step by step.
Rolling over to let the sun massage his body more evenly, Lu Wu began considering exactly what path he should take next.
His true form was a Bai Ze, knowledgeable of all things and capable of driving away evil and averting disasters—a rather renowned Auspicious Beast in the Primordial Realm. However, there had already been a Bai Ze named Bai Ze at the time, so he took the name Lu Wu after his former name.
Though Bai Ze's foundation was not bad, it ultimately was not among the very best. He still had to walk another path.
Then... Body Refinement to Sainthood, the Law of Force? Lu Wu frowned. This path required a being of immense resolve and extraordinary comprehension. Only Pangu had truly walked it to its end. Countless others had pursued his shadow, yet could only gaze at his back.
Three Thousand Great Daos, Myriad Laws Dao Lord? Lu Wu did have such thoughts, which was why he was temporarily staying on Douluo Continent to study laws.
Disordered Chaos, All Things Perish? Although Lu Wu, who had drifted through Chaos for so long, had been protected by the Eastern Emperor Bell, he had still been tainted by some Chaos Qi. He could be considered somewhat familiar with Chaos.
When he had first fled the Primordial Realm, he had still been clear-headed. He had seen a point of light in Chaos suddenly explode, unfolding into an entire world. He had also seen a world barrier torn apart by Chaos Qi, with all living beings wailing as their world was destroyed.
Chaos could evolve all things, and it could also destroy all things. Lu Wu knew that he had to break free from the framework of the Primordial Realm. He could retain its essence, but he could not follow its original path completely. Otherwise, he would only be innately suppressed. Chaos was a very good route.
At the end of the day, the Primordial Realm was merely a great world Pangu had opened within Chaos.
Thinking of this, Lu Wu felt faint excitement rising in his heart. He decided to take this path, whose future was unknown.
