Classification

Demon Beasts are ranked by combat strength, bloodline, and advancement. Their body, bloodline, and soul develop as a unified whole, unlike mages’ star-system-based cultivation. 481

Advancement Stages

An Advancement Stage is a period in which a Demon Beast accumulates strength for a final breakthrough. During this period, some or all of its attributes can exceed its current rank’s normal limits. 13 373

• Sub-ranks such as Sub-Commander and Sub-Monarch apply when only some aspects—such as body, bloodline, or soul—have reached the next level. 373
• The Shadow Wolf encountered near Wind Demon Ore was an Advancement-Stage Commander and was considered too dangerous for a single Intermediate mage to handle. 13
• The Divine Dust Tiger later displayed a Sub-Monarch aura while attacking Ming Bu Zechuan. 382

Appearance

Demon Beasts have no universal appearance. They range from ordinary-looking animals altered by demonic power to plants, sea monsters, dragons, and creatures capable of passing as humans.

• Sword Pig — a tusked pig-like Servant whose bloodthirsty aura and charge intimidate inexperienced mages. 8
• Shadow Wolf — a cyan-furred wolf marked on its forehead, capable of wind and shadow techniques. 13
• Long Night Flower — a plant-like Commander-in-Chief that releases sleep-inducing black mist. 105
• Humanoid mimic — one Demon Beast appeared with fake human ears, jade-green hair, and green eyes while posing as Lu Bingfeng’s companion. 91
• Beast Soul Rock Demon — rock-bodied creatures ranging from ordinary members to a forty-meter-tall Commander leader. 259

Demonic Aura

Demon Beasts emit an aura that can induce fear and disrupt a mage’s spellcasting.

• The Sword Pig’s aura nearly caused Zhou Tianyuan’s forming magic to collapse. 8
• Mental Element mages possess greater resistance to intimidation, allowing Bai Mo to remain composed against the Sword Pig. 8
• Commander-level auras can immobilize or overwhelm weaker opponents, particularly when accompanied by a demon horde. 13 159

Physical and Elemental Power

Many Demon Beasts combine powerful bodies with elemental or innate demonic abilities.

• The Shadow Wolf uses wind blades and is proficient in shadow and wind abilities. 13
• The Blue Valley Fierce Beast possesses a metallic hardened body and blood-red demonic slashes capable of cutting through defensive magic. 159
• The Four-Colored Octopus Monarch possesses innate combat power stated to be 30% greater than that of ordinary Demons. 382
• The Five-Colored Rakshasa has exceptionally destructive multicolored energy but comparatively fragile defenses. 528

Herds, Underlings, and Territory

Demon Beasts frequently form nests, packs, tribes, or territorial armies led by stronger individuals.

• Commander-level creatures may be protected by large numbers of Servant-level underlings, making them substantially harder to eliminate. 13
• Swiftwind Wolf packs can include Commander-in-Chief leaders such as the Zhufeng Wolf. 135 136
• The Beast Soul Rock Demon leader commanded thousands of lesser Rock Demons and two Commander-level guards. 259
• Tian Shan’s native Demon Beast groups migrate between snow, alpine, and meadow regions with the seasons. 494

Relationship with Humans

• Hunters and military mages — Demon Beast nests are cleared for bounties, territorial security, resources, and Essence Souls. 77 135 136

• Human civilization — Historical records state that as humans developed new forms of magic, Demon Beasts evolved alongside them and gained access to those same powers. 396
