Background / History

Origins

According to its President, the organization began more than a century earlier after he infiltrated the Psychic Research Institute to rescue imprisoned people. Though many of those he promised to save died during the escape, the survivors and their supporters later formed the prototype of The Truth Society. He maintained that it had never truly pursued “truth,” but justice for those wronged by the research institute and the old powers. 135

The Truth Society emerged as one of Zu Yuan Star's five major powers after the global war and subsequent cataclysm. For most of its history, its headquarters, leadership, and objectives were unknown to outsiders; its appearances were associated with disasters and mass deaths. 29 41

Conflict with Bai Fu

The organization entered Bai Fu's story through the Wildfire Gang, whose leader had secretly aided three Truth Society members to avoid detection by Lynn. Number Seven demonstrated the group's psionic restraint technology before Bai Fu killed him and recovered his badge. 29 30

After Yulia's proxy body was destroyed at the Abandoned Cooling Plant, the Chairman ordered its enhancement and dispatched assassins against Bai Fu, Yago, and Xia Shi. 38 Further attempts on Bai Fu's life, including Li Cheng's betrayal and six trained mutants, escalated the feud. 53 55

Bai Fu accepted the story mission [Truth Unknown], whose objective was the Society's destruction, after receiving the title [Shadow of Truth]. 50 Her repeated attacks, false death, and intelligence operations humiliated the organization and prompted it to raise her bounty to three million Credit Coins. 69 79

Collapse

Bai Fu exposed the locations of Truth Society bases to outside factions and began dismantling its network. The Old Republic, Gene Primordial, and Railroad Guild ultimately cooperated against the Society after verifying the intelligence. 85 87

Her final operation targeted the main base in the Deep Sleep Land, initially to rescue Yulia's true body. Bai Fu infiltrated Sector C, destroyed its secret laboratory, captured Doctor Ed, defeated Xu Zhihao, disrupted the base's power, and forced Bernardo to deploy desperate countermeasures. 127 129 130 131

The President returned to personally confront Bai Fu as the Society's front-line forces collapsed. Bai Fu defeated and captured him; after revealing the Society's origins and accepting Bai Fu's decision to help confront the alien visitor connected to his past, he and most of his followers chose death rather than capture. Bai Fu later killed the President, ending the organization. 133 135 136
