Chapter 35: Version 1.2 Update
Emperor's Tomb Village, Primal Altar.
Standing before the contained Crystal Wall, Qi Sheng's gaze swept over the imprisoned Primal Monsters.
Just this morning, a new member had been added to the Containment Wall.
Currently, containment cells 1 through 12 held the Stone Gargoyle (Petrification), Eagle Head Demon (Wailing), Black Armor Snake (Venom), Bone Fire (Ink Flame), Force Barbarian, Broken, Sweeping, Li Hun, Nether Ghost, Taunt, and Twilight Shadow (Phasing), along with a Light Shield.
Most of these Primal Monsters were named after their inherent abilities.
The monster in cell twelve, Light Shield, was a cloud-like creature with a hunting level of only 3. It was an unexpected find by a solo player exploring the Crimson Plains.
Light Shield's ability was to construct energy shields that could freely expand and contract using mental power, resisting all types of attacks.
After Light Shield was contained, its Soul attracted a large number of players for evaluation. Forum players considered it another suitable option for the ranged Star Vein build.
The combination of Eagle Head Demon and Bone Fire possessed formidable ranged and sustained damage capabilities. Their only weakness was a lack of survivability. Neither Eagle Head Demon nor Bone Fire were defensive or melee-oriented Souls, and at the same level, they had a significant gap compared to Souls like Black Armor Snake and Stone Gargoyle.
The appearance of Light Shield delighted many players who had chosen the Eagle Head Demon as their initial form, believing the Light Shield Soul could compensate for their lack of defense.
However, compared to these, Qi Sheng was most concerned about the Sacrificial Power yield.
Of the 12 contained Primal Monsters, 11 were First Generation Origins. Each could provide 10 Sacrificial Power per hour, totaling 2640 Sacrificial Power daily.
Among them, Taunt was a Second Generation Origin, producing 50 Sacrificial Power per hour, or 1200 Sacrificial Power daily.
The stable daily Sacrificial Power yield was 3840.
From players, after deducting the 10 Flesh Reconstruction cost for player deaths, each player averaged 3 Sacrificial Power daily (from mall commissions, sacrifice commissions, and hunting commissions). This contributed over 30,000 Sacrificial Power to him daily.
Combined, these revenues allowed for the issuance of 30 recruitment slots each day.
As players' strength increased, they would bring in more Sacrificial Power, and his recruitment speed would only accelerate, forming a positive development cycle.
After calculating the revenue, Qi Sheng decided to update the Challenger System.
From analyzing player feedback in the game, he had identified four settings that needed modification or addition.
"Guider, get to work."
The Guiding Water Orb floating beside him heard the command, conjured an arm, and saluted him with a serious expression:
[Understood. Commencing work.]
As the words fell, a pitch-black vortex appeared before the Guiding Water Orb. It floated into the vortex and vanished.
Several minutes later, a Challenger prompt echoed in all players' minds:
[Challenger Prompt: The game will soon undergo a version 1.2 update. The update contents are as follows:]
I. New Party Experience Sharing Mode. Under team mode, all players in the party will share Evolution Points and Sacrificial Power rewards upon killing monsters. Hunting profit attribution will be calculated based on damage dealt to the monster, and the final blow will no longer grant all rewards.
II. Refined Chat Channels. 1. In addition to Party Chat, Regional Chat, and World Chat channels, a Small Regional Chat channel will be added, displayed on the chat interface using place names. 2. A keyword filtering function will be added within chat channels.
III. Guild Function Added. Upon the completion of this update, players can visit the newest building in Emperor's Tomb Village, the "Guild Hall," and pay 100 Sacrificial Power to create a guild and form player teams. Various guild-based gameplay will be gradually added in the future (a guild member chat channel can be enabled after guild creation).
IV. Exploration Rewards Added. Players who explore map fog areas will receive Sacrificial Power rewards.
V. Leaderboard Function Added. After this update is complete, players can view leaderboards through the function panel. The detailed ranking categories are as follows: 1. Monster Level Ranking. 2. Player Star Vein Level Ranking. 3. Player Body Tempering Level Ranking. 4. Star Vein Comprehensive Score Ranking (scored based on the overall strength of monster Souls embedded in the Star Vein). 5. Armored Vehicles (not yet open). 6. Guild Level Ranking (not yet open). (This update is an online update; players do not need to log out.)
The appearance of the update prompt immediately made the player forums incredibly lively.
Players engaged in heated discussions about the update content.
Game Brick Mover Party: Finally, a team experience sharing mode! The previous setting where the killer got all the rewards was too much of a pain. We were criticized harshly within the team every time we got a last hit, and we had to resort to taking turns to solve the problem.
Shrimp Heart of Pork: Team experience sharing and damage calculation completely eliminate those opportunistic last-hit stealers. Our team was already preparing to block the resurrection point (Emperor's Tomb Village) to kill those dogs who stole last hits everywhere. The official update has resolved a major hidden danger. Thumbs up.
Do You Even River? : Team players rejoice! Guild functions and team experience sharing are exactly what we needed. We can finally form guilds.
The update was completed within seconds of the prompt appearing.
Among these, the introduction of the leaderboard function brought the names of many players into public view.
Of the six leaderboard categories, all but the last two unreleased rankings became the focus of player attention.
Especially the first place on each leaderboard.
The first place on the Monster Level leaderboard was the first player to enter the game, "Li Zheng". His "Black Armor Snake" form surpassed all other players' monster levels, reaching level 19.
The first place on the Star Vein Level leaderboard and the Body Tempering Level leaderboard was held by one person.
He was "Da Tie", the earliest to develop the Spirit Tool growth path. Both his Body Tempering level and Star Vein level reached level 5, allowing him to embed 5 monster soul fragments and inherit the full attribute bonuses from all five simultaneously.
The first place on the final Star Vein Comprehensive Score leaderboard was: "Broke to the Bone".
Both his Bone Fire form and Eagle Head Demon form reached level 14, with his comprehensive score surpassing all other players.
As for "Da Tie", although he possessed five soul fragments, the evolution points gained from combat in human form had to be distributed equally among each soul fragment. Therefore, the average level of his five Spirit Tool soul fragments was only level 5, and his comprehensive score was not as high as "Broke to the Bone".
One hour after the update ended, a large number of players exploring outside returned to Emperor's Tomb Village, pooling 100 points of Sacrificial Power to establish guilds.
Drunk Gang Guild, Kindergarten Guild, Doomsday Tech Guild... The introduction of the guild system provided many groups with an internal communication channel.
The team voice channel could accommodate a maximum of 30 people and required players to be in the same region to establish it, preventing cross-regional chat.
However, the guild voice channel had no limit on the number of people or regions. Players in Emperor's Tomb Village could communicate with guild members thousands of miles away. It also eliminated the annoyance of advertisement spam in the regional chat channel.
After this update was completed, player feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
