How Monster Souls Work

• Players embed Monster Souls in Star Vein slots and can switch between their available monster forms. A monster form grants a 100% attribute bonus; raising the Star Vein level opens more slots 2.
• Each Soul has a characteristic trait. Examples include the Black Armor Snake’s venom, the Spiked Ball’s Spike Shot, and Long Sky’s flight 2 4.
• Body Tempering determines how many equipped monster forms’ attributes a player can fully inherit while in human form. In monster form, a player normally cannot use another Soul’s trait without switching forms; using multiple traits together requires fighting in the original form or a specialized combination 2 4 194.
• Contained Primal Monsters become forms available to the player faction. New Souls can therefore create new Star Vein combinations for players beyond the team that contained them 4 113.

Acquisition and Growth

• A player chooses an initial Soul during character creation. Li Zheng’s first choice is a level 1 Black Armor Snake Soul 2.
• Further Souls can be purchased or obtained as rewards. Brute Strength costs 1,000 Sacrificial Power, while containing the sixth-generation Infinite granted the Youngster Group 15 tradable Infinite Souls 17 78.
• Hunting raises the levels of equipped Souls: Evolution Points from a kill are shared equally among them. Some special Souls cannot grow through hunting and instead require a different method, such as merging rule fragments 74 240.
• Soul level affects trait strength. Depending on the trait, its effect may also depend on the user’s physical or mental attributes and the target’s resistance 144 230 253.

Builds and Rule Enhancements

• Star Vein combinations: Players pair traits for effects that a single Soul cannot provide, such as using Bone Fire with Eagle Head Demon for long-range attacks, or pairing Black Armor Snake with Brute Strength for stronger physical strikes 10 19.
• Attribute allocation: Souls differ in how their level gains are split between physical quality and mental strength. The God Transformation rule lets players change that growth ratio, but it does not change whether a trait itself depends on physical or mental strength 238 239.
• Gathering: The Crystal Palace domain rule strengthens a given Monster Soul as more players use and level it. Every 100,000 Gathering points increases that Soul’s strength by 1% 136.
• Monster Stream: This path concentrates growth in one monster form and grants access to the form’s innate bodily traits. Its Tyrant Path variant alters the Star Vein for single-Soul growth, making it incompatible with other Soul characteristics while active 285 289.
• Special Souls: Players can craft Souls from unusual materials or rules. Documented creations include Tong Xin’s Darkborn Legion, Little Mage’s Myriad Phenomena, and the Fate City Soul 240 332 384.
