"Of course I do."
The God King stopped, not even turning his head. His voice betrayed no emotion. "What do you intend to do?"
"How likely do you think we are to win?"
The Jade Emperor showed no surprise at the God King's response, as if he had expected it.
"The Immortal Dao is doomed." The God King's tone remained flat, but his words brimmed with killing intent.
"When the Origin Heaven was destroyed, did it ever warn you?" The Jade Emperor lowered his eyes and spoke slowly. "The divine race was born of Heaven and Earth, and stood above all others on the Origin Continent. Why, then, did you betray the Origin Heaven?"
"I never betrayed the Origin Heaven. I just told you that." The God King slowly shook his head, his gaze profound, his voice ethereal and elusive. "The tide of destiny cannot be turned. The great universe will eventually reach its end. Samsara is the true nature of this world."
Before his words had even faded, the God King vanished without a trace.
"Why didn't you keep him here?"
The old man seated before the Immortal Furnace slowly opened his eyes. They were murky as an abyss, with specks of starlight glimmering within.
"Without using a killing weapon, the two of us are no match for him." The Jade Emperor gave a slight shake of his head. "Besides, he has the Heavenly Dao imprint of the Lingyang Realm. Even if we kept him here, it would mean little. Finding a way to refine the source crystal and force the Origin Heaven out is what matters now."
Ordinary methods could not kill an expert of the God King's caliber. With the Origin Heaven gone, the power to shatter the Lingyang Realm outright had vanished as well.
