Background and History

A Heavenly Dao is tied to a world's origin, but its authority, origin power and Heavenly Dao Mark are distinct. Meng explains that the mark connects to the world's origin and does not change when someone else takes authority 660. When Dongxuan obtained authority over Lingyang, most of that realm's Heavenly Dao power remained beneath the Yellow Springs; Meng concluded that it had voluntarily relinquished authority rather than lost its foundation 694.

Taiyuan Tian, formerly the Heavenly Dao of the Taiyuan Realm, tells Shi Lan that the Myriad Realms arose from the remains of beings who died on the original continent. That continent's Heavenly Dao was defeated after its Source Energy was withheld, and its core was split into four pieces 618. The Divine King later tells Shi Lan that Origin Heaven remains alive despite the continent's destruction 744.

Lingyang Tian

According to Yan, the Old God King's removal of much of Lingyang's source power threatened the realm with collapse. Its Heavenly Dao took the essence of the ancient beasts to sustain it, then contacted Gu Ye to set the God War in motion. After the divine race lost its trust, humanity rose and the Heavenly Dao began planning its own reincarnation 714.

Lingyang Tian later appears as a golden-haired woman whom the ancient gods identify as the Lingyang Heavenly Dao's avatar 713. In the final conflict, Heavenly Dao true spirits fight alongside her. She survives and enters a familiar fragment of land; the account states that her memories, like those of other revived Heavenly Daos, are incomplete 790.

World Laws and Tribulations

• Cultivation thresholds — On Yunyan Star, advancement to the Heaven-Man Realm triggers the Heavenly Dao's Thunder Tribulation 327. In Lingyang, tribulations and restrictions can intensify; its laws later reduce the combat power beings can exert within the realm to less than thirty percent of their power outside it 770.
• Heavenly punishment — Lingyang's tribulation clouds form a figure bearing a Heavenly Punishment Lightning Sword during Di Beichen's confrontation with the Heavenly Dao 562.
• Destiny — Lingyang's Heavenly Dao can grant protection and favor. The destiny held by its three races also affects the strength of their cultivators' tribulations 447.

Realm Defense

• Sealing and suppression — The awakened Heavenly Dao seals the Fierce Nether King Realm. Within that realm, its ninth-tier-limit power can instantly suppress anyone below the Transcendent Supreme level 544 547.
• Purging intruders — Another realm's awakened Heavenly Dao heals its barriers, traps invading Supremes and manifests a Heavenly Saber against them 640.
• Limits — A Ruler-level powerhouse can destroy the Heavenly Dao of an ordinary Great Thousand World despite its authority within that world 660.

• Di Beichen — An ancient enemy of Lingyang's Heavenly Dao who confronts its manifestation during Di Luosha's tribulation 562.
• Shi Lan — Holds Heavenly Dao authority in multiple realms, including Qiongluo and Liuguang; that authority does not necessarily give her a realm's Heavenly Dao Mark or origin power 458 657 694.
• Origin Heaven and the God King — The God King sought Origin Heaven's judgment when others coveted its authority. Origin Heaven told him to follow his heart 744 790.
• Heavenly Dao Alliance — Despite its name and its claim to act for heaven, the alliance harvests worlds for Source Energy and has fought their Heavenly Daos 432 776.
