Background / History

The Hall of Souls is a feared and highly secretive force in Central State, regarded as powerful enough to stand against the Alchemist Tower. Its reputation alone causes other factions to hesitate or flee rather than confront it. 31

Hun Tianchen commands its guardians, Venerates, Heavenly Venerates, and later the Nine Great Sages. His authority is treated as absolute: subordinates execute his orders without question, while the Sixth and Seventh Heavenly Venerates await him to begin major rituals. 31 84 112

During the Ancient Ruins conflict, the Hall of Souls sealed the grand hall's exit and allowed rival factions to exhaust themselves fighting for Heavenly-tier Martial Skills and against puppets. Its Dou Zuns even feigned injury to exaggerate the threat of a Dou Sheng skeleton, using deception to intimidate the other forces. 52 53 56

The organization subsequently expanded from targeted operations into an open campaign for dominance. It extorted treasures from Central State factions, harvested souls at the Space Trade Fair, invaded Burning Flame Valley, and carried out massacres against alchemists around the Wan Yao Mountain Range. 59 129 130 145 146

Its largest operation involved secretly placing Soul Devouring Death Arrays beneath Central State and beyond, intending to absorb the energy of living beings, powerful cultivators, and national fortunes across the Dou Qi Continent.
