After Itachi’s return and the revelation of Akatsuki, the diary’s footage followed Kakashi’s team into the Land of Waves, where Zabuza was apparently defeated but remained a threat.

• Kakashi found Kaede’s diary, learned that Kaede knew Naruto carried the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox, and was warned by an unseen pressure not to seek him out.
• Kaede drew the Uchiha Clan Standard Bloodline, fused with it, and awakened the Sharingan during a bandit mission while leading his squad.
• Kakashi and Second Pillar watched footage of Itachi and Kisame entering Konoha, where Itachi used Tsukuyomi on Kakashi before Might Guy drove Kisame off and the pair withdrew.

• Second Pillar watched Sasuke defeat Danzo by tracking and exhausting Izanagi, but Sasuke wounded Karin to reach him, prompting Second Pillar and Kakashi to condemn his actions.
