History
The stone tablet's account describes Kaguya Ōtsutsuki bringing periods of peace to the ninja world before disappearing. Her son Hagoromo spread chakra in the hope that spiritual understanding would prevent conflict. Instead, people developed ninjutsu and fought wars on a larger scale 21.
During the Warring States period, ninja clans fought over land and resources. Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha later founded Konoha, and Hashirama established the one-village-one-nation system: villages concentrated a nation's ninja forces while Daimyo and nobles governed its people. The arrangement brought temporary peace, but wars between villages proved larger than the earlier clan conflicts 197 294.

| Five Great Shinobi Villages | Konoha, Sunagakure, Kumogakure, Iwagakure, and Kirigakure are the principal village powers. Their wartime grievances remain evident at the Five Kage Summit 103. |
