The Deserted Town
On the outskirts of London, they drove around the entire city in their Hirenkyaku, but Tsuna and the others didn't notice anything unusual. Plus, they were all feeling quite tired after fighting all night.
"Let's call it a day for now. Let's go back and rest for a bit, and we'll come out again in the evening," Tsuna said, since the Fairy Tale Dragon appeared at night, and perhaps there would be some other discoveries after dark.
The other three were equally indifferent. After a period of fruitless efforts, their enthusiasm gradually subsided, and even Bruno, who had been clamoring for revenge against the Quincy, had nothing to say.
"Wait a minute, I need to find a grove of trees to relieve myself," Bruno suddenly said.
"Perfect timing, I feel the same way, let's go together."
Ichigo and Bruno stood arm in arm, leaving only Tsuna and Uryū waiting in the same spot.
"This Wandenreich vanished far too silently."
Uryū brought up the topic: the Sternritter, in order to rescue the Quincy Girls, were exposed to the West Bureau's sights and then vanished without a trace. It was all too strange. "Do you think they might no longer be in London?"
"If it's not in London, then it'll be hard to find."
Tsuna was equally helpless. The world was too big, and if the Quincy army insisted on hiding in the shadows of other cities, he really had no way to stop them. Searching all over Japan and London was already his limit.
"Anyway, in my conversations with her, it seems that the Quincy really believe in their Saint Emperor's Song," Uryū continued, referring to Liltotto as the "her."
"If that's the case, it's not impossible that they hid until then..."
Suddenly, Tsuna and the other heard a cry of surprise. The sound came from the direction where Ichigo and Bruno had gone to relieve themselves. A flash of light appeared beneath their feet, and they quickly teleported to Ichigo and Bruno's location.
"Ichigo? Where's Bruno?"
When Tsuna arrived at the scene, he found only Ichigo; Bruno had vanished.
Ichigo pounded the ground twice, but finding it had no effect, he quickly said, "We were just about to relax when Bruno suddenly said he'd made a discovery. He drew a strange pattern on the ground with his finger, and then he disappeared!"
"I did find something, Kurosaki, your watch is lit up!" Uryū observed more carefully, Ichigo, preoccupied with Bruno, didn't notice the unusual thing on his wrist.
"Is this... the hiding place of the Quincy?" Ichigo asked. This watch was made by Urahara Kisuke to help them find the Quincy place, and the reaction proved that they had found the right place.
There was no time for joy; Ichigo was even a little panicked. "Oh no, Bruno went in alone. What if it's Quincy? He's doomed."
The same worry crossed Tsuna and Uryū's minds; neither of them could be sure whether the Quincy were inside.
"The shopkeeper didn't teach us how to open this place," Uryū said. They came here only to find the Quincy. After discovering their tracks, they would contact the Seireitei to see if they should launch an expedition to exterminate them or deal with them in another way.
Bruno's disappearance has forced them to confront the Quincy army, but they have no way to escape into the shadows.
"Ichigo, are you sure Bruno disappeared here?" Tsuna asked, squatting down beside Ichigo's fist mark.
"That's right, but I don't know how Bruno drove it." In Ichigo anxiety, Ichigo pounded the ground several times with his spiritual pressure.
Tsuna drew his Soul Cutter, first using the Forest Flame to slice away all the surrounding plants, and then igniting a red flame in his palm.
"The characteristic of Storm Attribute Flames is decomposition. I don't know if it will work, but I'll give it a try!"
Tsuna placed his palm on the fist mark left by Ichigo. When the enemy uses a barrier defense, the Storm Attribute flames are the best weapon to break through the barrier. He hoped to succeed.
Strands of Reishi flowed from Tsuna's palm; it was the decomposing ability of the Storm Attribute flames taking effect. There really was something like a barrier here.
A small opening, about the size of a palm, was created. Just as Tsuna was about to unleash more flames, Bruno's voice came from the other side of the opening.
"Is this Sawada-sensei?" Bruno asked, thankfully he still remembered Sawada Tsunayoshi's magical energy fluctuations.
How are you?
"I'm fine, it's safe here, I'll let you in first!" Bruno was so shocked by the sight inside that he momentarily forgot Ichigo and the others were waiting outside.
A magic circle with a diameter of three meters appeared before Tsuna and his Tsuna. Without a word, each of them prepared for battle and stepped into the magic circle.
The scene shifted, and Tsuna and the others found themselves in a medieval town divided into sections, which looked very similar to the uppermost buildings in Inner Reverse London.
"I'm sorry, I didn't expect there to be a town here, and I forgot to let you know I was safe," Bruno said sincerely. He wouldn't argue on matters of principle.
"This isn't the time to talk about that. Looks like we've come to the right place." Looking at the city wall in front of him, Tsuna vaguely felt that it resembled something from the manga he remembered.
"Is this the Quincy army's base?" Ichigo raised Zangetsu, ready to launch an attack at any moment.
"There's a large concentration of Reishi in the town. Be careful." Putting on D. Spade's magic mirror, Tsuna noticed the unusual concentration of Reishi. "Strangely, there aren't any other traces of Reishi."
Given the large number of Quincy troops, it's impossible that there would only be one Reishi gathering point. There should be multiple Reishi particle points as defensive personnel, scattered throughout the town.
"I'll go first. Ichigo and Uryū, you two protect the flanks. Bruno, you stand in the middle. We'll go in and take a look," Tsuna said.
"I can fight too!" Bruno had already put on a fang-like mask and was holding spray cans in both hands.
"You don't have the Blut Vene for defense, and your magic takes time to cast. If you hadn't discovered this place, I probably wouldn't have let you in."
Infiltrating enemy territory to investigate is far too dangerous. Tsuna and the other two each have their own strengths, but Bruno is the most vulnerable one. His presence would only hinder their actions.
"I understand, I'll come to your aid." Bruno didn't argue; any bickering could wait until they got back.
Tsuna and his group cautiously made their way towards the town. When they saw that the town gates were not closed, they realized that something was wrong.
"An empty city?" Uryū asked, but he seemed a little unsure.
"These marks of mud on the city wall are still very fresh; they're clearly left after clearing away the weeds that had climbed up the wall," Bruno said, pointing to the city wall.
"How about I just shoot an All-Things Exterminator?" Ichigo is an impatient person, and this place might be the Quincy's headquarters, so his All-Things Exterminator wouldn't harm anyone unrelated.
"Don't rush." Tsuna conjured up long green hair, his Cloud Attribute Release: Resurrección form. Tiny dragons, no bigger than grains of rice, jumped off his palms and quickly grew to the size of motorcycles, numbering over a hundred, all Cloud Velociraptors.
"Let them search first. I can sense if anything happens to them."
Cloud Velociraptors continued to fall from Tsuna's palm as if they were free. Bruno watched this scene, stroking his chin. Tsuna's move was a good reconnaissance method; he just wondered if it could be converted into magic.
By trading quantity for time, it didn't take long for the entire city to be filled with cloud velociraptors. Noticing that the velociraptors were not surprised, Tsuna simply withdrew the Cloud Attribute flames.
"An empty city," Tsuna affirmed. "But there are signs of human habitation; some of the stoves are even still warm."
Following the route taken by the Cloud Velociraptor, Tsuna led everyone to a kitchen in the town, where there was indeed still some charcoal left.
"That means those Quincy got away!" Bruno angrily punched the wall. He had originally wanted revenge, but he didn't expect them to escape so quickly.
"It seems that the Quincy Legion had someone to meet them when they left Reverse London. It's possible that the Fairy Tale Dragon disaster last night was orchestrated by the Quincy Legion," Uryū analyzed.
"Damn it! We were completely occupied with dealing with them back then, they must have been behind this!" Ichigo's face was also filled with anger.
Last night, Fairy Tale Dragon attacked London, causing the deaths of many London residents. The earth was turned upside down, and life was instantly extinguished. Even Tsuna, who transformed into the sun, could not save them.
"If it's an empty city, everyone spread out and search for any remaining intelligence, although I think it's unlikely. Remember to be careful."
Tsuna made the decision that would save the most time. The Cloud Velociraptor had already scouted the town and found it to be safe.
"I'll dig three feet into the ground and find out where these Quincy escaped!" Bruno was very motivated. His magic contained many monsters, and he could learn from Tsuna's previous methods to improve the efficiency of his search.
"Then I'll come too!" Ichigo's emotions were easily stirred up by Bruno.
The group walked to the open space in the center of the town, each going in a different direction, and were about to begin their operation when suddenly, a heavy thumping sound caught their attention. The sound even caused the ground to tremble slightly.
"What is it?" Ichigo guessed. "Drumming?"
"No, it sounds like a heartbeat!" Uryū said with certainty.
"Whose heart can make the earth tremble? Even Fairy Tale Dragon couldn't do that!" Bruno exclaimed in shock.
"The sound is coming from underground." Tsuna had already used the magic mirror to pinpoint the direction of the sound. He pointed diagonally to the ground. "Let's go down and take a look."
With new discoveries made, naturally no one wants to search for an empty city; traveling together offers mutual support.
The light of the Quincy Cross flashed behind Tsuna as he used the power of the Tsuna Flame of Stream, the Stream Drill in his hand being a weapon imbued with piercing properties.
Just as Tsuna was about to drill into the ground, he suddenly remembered why the large amount of Reishi he had discovered outside the city had vanished as soon as he entered the city.
Could it be that the sound of the heart underground swallowed up all that dense Reishi?
